Heather: Hi, all. I’m Margaret, and my job is to hang out in the Falcon Investigations office and help my best friend, Duncan Reynolds, and his partner, Delanie Fitzgerald, with all their private investigative work. My full name is Margaret Thatcher Reynolds, and I’m a brown and white English bulldog. Recently, I won first place in the Strut Your Mutt contest. We got a gift card and a basket of all kinds of cool things. I was also interviewed on the morning news, and I help them solve crimes and find things. This and my newly found social media influencer status should earn me my own office, but we’ll see. For now, I’m content with hanging out with my pals, going for rides in his canary-yellow Camaro, and scoring all kinds of treats. You can catch more of my heroic antics in the Delanie Fitzgerald Mysteries by Heather Weidner.

 

Jayne: I am Mr. Belvedere, a silver Great Dane. My mom (Darby Moore) and I own Ruff Day Doggie Boutique and Dog Wash. It’s a small store on the main street of Bay Vista, North Carolina. The front of our shop has everything, and I mean everything, for the pampered pooch. (My favorite items are the Chewy Vitton harnesses. Oh, so stylish!) The back of the shop has three stalls where owners can bring in their pets (especially big ones) and give baths without worry of messing up their own showers at home. The parents love it. The dogs? Not so much. I offer moral support as the pups get lathered up and rinsed off. It’s not uncommon for me to get splattered when the mutts shake off their suds. As job hazards go, it’s not so bad. And mom gives me a good rubdown—and extra kibble—when it happens.

We were rolling along just fine, me and my mom, until the big Bark-itecture event. This display of wildly imaginative custom dog houses had the whole town talking. (I don’t want to brag, but it was my mom’s idea. And all the proceeds went to the SPCA. A win-win-win situation.) The problem arose when a dead body was found in mom’s very un-Grinchly-like dog house inspired by her love of Who-Ville. I wasn’t there, but I heard it was quite a traumatic event and almost ruined my mom’s day. Make that, almost ruined my mom’s life, on account of she could have easily lost our business. Then she would have to go back to slinging hash at Breakfast at Stephanie’s while I sat at home and moped. I much prefer working in the shop with her.

Mom, ever the problem solver, started working to help find the killer. The sooner the better, if she wanted to save our livelihood. I assisted her when suspects came to the shop by distracting their canine companions while mom interrogated—in the sweetest way possible— the possible killers. Of course, I’m also on standby in the event things go south. My large size (almost 170 pounds) intimidates most everyone. Oh dear, I fear I’ve reached my limit and there is so much more to tell. You’ll have to read the full account of our mystery-solving adventure in “Ruff Day” included in To Fetch a Villain, Four Fun “Tails” of Miscreants and Murder.  

Maria: Trey is a three year old Bichon. He weighs 15 pounds and he's 1 ft. tall. He was born in a dirty, ill-kept, kennel in southern Virginia and was bought by a Virginia Beach woman before his first birthday. This owner sold him to a service dog trainer who soon discovered Trey's unusual intelligence. He has been trained to be alert to his owner's needs and to protect her from danger. Trey's new owner is a deaf writer who works from home. He alerts her when someone calls or whenever a bell or siren or buzzer sounds. He can open the front door when necessary. He reminds his owner to empty the clothes dryer. If she forgets to take out the trash, he tells her when he hears the truck coming. He takes his job seriously.

 

Recently, his owner has taken in a new dog, also a Bichon. A young female stray who is now known to have escaped from the same puppy farm where Trey started life. She was used for breeding and was treated badly. Trey is determined to help her deal with her demons and learn to enjoy life.

 

I think of Trey as being like Mr. Carson in Downton Abbey. Always in charge and always knows just what to do.

 

As a working dog, Trey keeps his curly white hair trimmed in pet style. The show-style cut takes too much work and he doesn't have time to stand still for grooming.

 

Teresa: We are Cagney and Lacey, two Yorkshire Terriers who help our owner Catt Ramsey, dog walker extraordinaire solve crime and murder. Catt owns the Woof-Pack dog walkers in Virginia Beach, but she always seems to get into mischief. That's where we come in and alert her to dangerous situations.

And I thought

Spellbound is all I can think to describe this book.  

Maybe because it happens to take place in a locale that I dream to live in.  The Texas hill country other than a Beach I can't think of a better to place to be.  

Author McCrae lured this reader in with some very interesting characters and a mystery to solve that just happens to keep you on the edge of your seat and turning the pages at break neck speed!

I enjoyed ever moment and can't wait to return to Wheaton Creek.

I enjoyed the chance to get different mini books by different authors in one collection yet each novella has the same running theme a Coz Mystery that includes a dog or dogs.  

I loved the collection of different sleuths with different jobs and different styles of sleuthing.

Each if these authors were new to me so it was a fun chance to meet some new great writers

This collection would ma great gift for a friend that likes to read but your not sure what they have read.

And I thought

There was so much food talked about I couldn't wait to get the end and see what recipes we get to enjoy.

And an ending it was.  Cozy Mysteries don't usually have Fairy Take endings but surprisingly this one did.

I loved the mystery.  I enjoyed the twists and turns.  I stood behind River as she tried to figure out exactly when and what went down so she could find the real killer.

The other characters were fun giving the reader a few smiles along the way.  And the townspeople add to the story.

I must say I wasn't too taken with the cover but I read the back and I thought it might just be a good read.  And it was.

Since this one is book 2 I have added book 1 to my TBR list.

I enjoyed this new to me series and am waiting as patiently as I can for more!

Claire takes her six tourists, most from America, to the Cornwall coast in search of sites of mystery novels and hears the opinions of the Cornish people on smuggling. She asks Patrick to meet her in Penzance to give a guest lecture on the smuggling in Oliver Nott’s novels. Claire finds Patrick self-aggrandizing and arrogant but doesn’t agree he would murder and sets out to find the one responsible.

And I thought

I had no idea when I started reading this book that I had read the previous book.  It only took a few pages for me to stop and check it out.  Honestly the cover didn't give me a clue and sadly the authors name didn't ring a bell. 

But the characters the locale did.

  As I read the first few pages I was pleasantly surprised and taken back to a happy place.  I enjoyed book 1.  I enjoyed Claire and the other characters.

And once I got into Crime In Cornwall   I was happy to be on a new Journey with Claire even though her Book Tours seem to always end up with some kind of crime or murder that needs to be solved.

I really enjoy this series and I look forward to the next one.  

Realizing that I could have missed a chance at reading a really good book I think this reader needs to pay a bit more attention to the synopsis of the book than just the cover.

I have enjoyed this series and look forward to book 3.  Thank you Emma Dakin for opening up such interesting locale  and taking us on such a fun tour.

I was surprised at how good this book is.   I had the misconception that it's being a debut novel the book might read as a debut.  I was surprised.  Author Elizabeth Breck spins a tale that is a fast paced and thriller.  All because she knows the topic. As a professional P.I. she is able to bring a realism that even some veteran writers miss.

If you like a good Suspense you will enjoy Anonymous. 

A page turner that keeps you interested from page one all the way to the suspenseful end.

I am expectantly waiting for book 2 of this new series.

Main Character Monday feat. The Billionaires Christmas Wish by Laura Haley McNeil

Welcome to Main Character Monday the day I feature a character in a book that stood out to me.  

Why I chose River . . . 

Who wouldn't I mean did you see that cover?  River turned out to be much more than just a pretty handsome face.  Author Laura Haley McNeil developed a celebrity character that has compassion and a heart.  Which I think is usually contrary to what we expect of celebrities.  

River is honest and hardworking and has morals.  And 'faith'.  But he is torn when he has to make a career move when he is traded to another team.

River quickly becomes a big part of Soledad's life and her non profit after school program.

 I have to admit it was difficult to choose  between the 3 main characters River, Soledad and her daughter Kalida who is a giggling little girl going on 30.  

Maybe I'll get a chance to interview Soledad and Kalida!   

The first line . . . 

River Jackson stood on the sidewalk and stared at the old Denver schoolhouse.

And on page 56 . . . 

 . . .  The children froze and stared then rushed up the steps. Thier shouts and questions were a muddle of voices Soledad couldn't understand, but she was glad river's presence put a smile on their faces.

And I thought 

One of my favorite series. I have enjoyed each of the books.  

As a Cover Junkie I have to say I love this cover. No real glimpses or clues or hints but it sets the stage.  

I love that Macy's dog Beau is forefront and inviting you in.

The characters in this series are enjoyable. 

Macy is the one that tends to stumble onto or into trouble.  But it's o.k. because her brother Bo is Ex DEA or he claims to be retired.   Because he still has lots of connections even with FBI.  Said FBI connection is a real hunk that has Macy's attention and ever slowly her heart.   And, w/o giving anything away they kind of went on a date.  Things might be heating up in the romance department in book 4!  

Fair Trade was an easy super fast read for me because author Heather Day Gilbert spins a tale that keeps you interested to the end. 

All the characters are fun to like making this a great series.

There is a cliff hanger that left me wondering if poor Waffles will ever find a Fur Ever home.

This reader is tryint to wait patiently for book 4!
