Hero Debut by Angela Ruth Strong Book Spotlight My Review

About the book

Gemma Bennett is the leading lady of her own life, and her true love is writing

screenplays. With her trusty pink notebook in hand, she signs up for the Citizen’s Safety Academy to research her newest blockbuster hope, a rom-com with a police officer as the hero. And the fact that the handsome and heroic Lieutenant Karson

Zellner is the one leading the training? Well, who can blame her for wanting to spend evenings with the man she swooned over months ago when he responded to a call at her apartment?

Karson already has his fair share of problems before Gemma shows up, and he's not exactly a fan of the ditzy blonde who can’t seem to stay out of trouble. The last thing he needs is a damsel in distress to rescue; there are plenty of people in real need of his help. The fact that she seems to think his job makes him a superhero is just one more strike against her. This isn't a movie, and he feels like the furthest thing from a leading man.

Gemma can't seem to stop doing the worst, most embarrassing things at just the

wrong time. And as time goes on, Gemma begins to realize that the scripts for a perfect screenplay and a real-life happily-ever-after are two very different things. Can she step out of her own way to find the hero her story needs?

And others are saying

Another sparkling feel-good romance, brimming with perfect doses of heart and heat!"-- Bethany Turner, award-winning author of The Do-Over

A vibrant rom-com, full of witty dialogue, faith, friendship, with a sunshine-grumpy romance!

And I thought . . .

So easy to turn the pages.

My thanks to author Angela Ruth Strong for allowing me to be one of the first to read Hero Debut

For this reader it was so easy to like love the quirky Gemma.  A smart and savvy writer who figures out a way to meet hunky Police Officer Karson Zellner Lieutenant Karson Zellner who just happens to be teaching a Citizen’s Safety Academy class.

What better way to innocently get to know the hunky cop?

Gemma has her plans while Mr. Cop has his own which don't include getting mixed up with a female least if all Gemma.

But with any good Romance.

Thier fates are fixed and planned.

Hero Debut is as charming and witty as Gemma.

Author Angela Ruth Strong gives the read a chuckle awhile tackling a few hard subjects.  All the while balancing Faith, Romance and Humor.

It is nice to read a book that has 'Heart'.

It is also nice to have no misgivings at awarding 5 stars.

Reeling from her divorce and the death of her mother, Jubilee Jones is trying to hold herself together and make a life for her girls. With no other options, she seeks refuge and a fresh start in the nostalgic embrace of Strawberry Sands.

When her car breaks down, it feels like she's hit rock bottom, but the boy who'd been her crush that one beautiful summer doesn't just rescue her, he offers her a job on his beachside ranch. She has no other options, so she gratefully accepts, never intending to be more than friends with him.

Her Own Revolution Great Escapes Book Tour my Review

About the book

A Woman Forges a Treacherous Path to Save Hundreds from the Guillotine

If Geneviève Fouquier-Tinville had the same rights as a man, she wouldn’t have to dress like one, which she does to attend University—forbidden to women. By swearing her commitment to the revolution, she succeeds in convincing her father, the Public Prosecutor who condemns thousands to the guillotine, to hire her as a court clerk. But she intends to earn passage to join her lover, Henri, in America.

Tasked with copying lists of names scheduled for execution, she reads Louis LaGarde, a fallen noble whom she despises for having exposed her as a woman when they both attended University. Believing him innocent, she replaces his name with one already dead, saving his life. But she realizes that unless she forges a treacherous path, hundreds more will perish at her father’s hands.

When a Revolutionary hunts her down, she must accept LaGarde’s help, yet she denies her attraction to him out of loyalty to Henri. She fights for her life and the lives of those she’s come to love, but she must face the truth of her own heart.

And others are saying

Debra Borcherts’s Her Own Revolution is the gripping story of a young woman who risks everything, a fast-paced story that draws the reader in with its tremendous world-building as you traverse the streets of Paris with Genevieve to encounter both loathsome and endearing characters.

~Novels Alive

And I thought

Not my normal read.

But I was intrigued.

The cover kinda 'got me'.

I was not disappointed.

Her Own Revolution drew me in and kept me turning the pages.

Although I liked the story line as a new reader to the genre and series I felt like I would have benefitted from reading book 1.

If I get the chance I will definitely read it.

Genevieve is a strong and independent character with situations and challenging circumstances that caused her to risk her very life.  And makes her question her hopes of love.

The author developed not only the story but takes the reader on a journey and almost makes you feel like you Are in  Paris and a Loire Valley vineyard during the French Revolution.

My thanks to the author and Great Escapes Tour for the introduction.

HoneyBook Spotlight Drop Dead by Laura Child Great Escapes Book Tour

August 21 – My Reading Journeys – SPOTLIGHT

About the book

The murder of a political bigwig at a Honey Bee Tea sends Theodosia Browning buzzing for answers in this latest installment

of the New York Times bestselling series.

Theodosia’s Honey Bee Tea was an elegant affair set in Charleston’s new Petigru Park amid newly planted native grasses and a community beekeeping project. But when a phony beekeeper shows up and sprays toxic smoke at the guests, the party erupts in chaos. Worse yet, a shot rings out and Osgood Claxton III, candidate for state legislature, falls to the ground—dead.

Holly Burns, the gallery owner who asked Theodosia to cater the tea, is understandably heartbroken. A man is dead, her guests are angry and injured, and the paintings that were on display are left in tatters. When the police don’t seem to have a clue, when old-line politicos don’t want questions asked, Holly begs Theodosia to run a shadow investigation and help restore her gallery’s good name.

Between hosting a Wind in the Willows Tea and a Glam Girl Tea, Theodosia questions everyone that had a bone to pick with Claxton. This includes Booker, an angry outsider artist; Lamar Lucket, Claxton’s political opponent; and Mignon Merriweather, the dead man’s soon-to-be ex-wife. But the investigation becomes a political hot potato following a second murder, the revelation of a messy affair, a chase through a swamp, and a vandalized shop.
