On The Road-Author Chat Meet the Author feat. Lenora Worth

Welcome to the blog today.  I am happy and excited to share a fun chat I had recently with author Lonora Worth.

I have enjoyed my visit in Blossom, Texas and meeting her great characters.  Now let's meet Lenora!

Hello and Welcome thanks for being such a great hostess.  I've loved visiting your little town of Blossom.

Your welcome and thank you for having me here on the blog.

Let's get right into these fun questions.  Dream romantic vacation?

A cabin on a snow covered mountain.

Best Christmas gift ever received?

A pair of tiny diamond stud earrings from my husband I'm wearing them know.

B&B, 5 star Hotel or Glamping?

Bed and Breakfast although I would turn down a 5 star hotel!

Favorite sweet indulgence?

Really good dark chocolate.

Favorite hot drink?

Really good hot chocolate maybe a little Amaretto.

You just finished writing The End.  How do you celebrate?

I celebrate the end of a book by taking a couple days

off, maybe going to the beach.  Then I get back into the next book.

Do you have any fur babies that 'run the show'?

No fur babies here. I've had pets in the past.  A  cat named

Cujo was my favorite.

If you could go anywhere in the world to write your next book where would you go?

If I could go anywhere to write my next book it would be Ireland.

It's on my bucket list.

The series is located in the fictional town of Blossom, Texas

What other locales have you written into a story?

I've had lots of locations for books, mostly in Texas and Louisiana, where I lived for 30 years. And my home state of Georgia, and now Florida.

Do you like to write series or stand alones?

I love writing both series and stand-alones.

Sometimes,  a stand alone becomes a series when a secondary character needs thier own book.

Can you give us a sneak peek of what your working on?

I just finished a big Amish book set near Lake Erie, Pa.

A more mainstream story with intense, a forbidden love story The Memory will be out next December.

I will have to add Lake Erie to my travel itinerary!  Thanks so much for chatting today visiting Blossom was super fun.  I can't wait to read the rest of the series.

Thanks for having me Happy New Year.

On The Road- Main Character Monday feat. Cooking Up Trouble by Lenora Worth

Welcome to Main Character Monday.
My post today is part of my new feature . . .

Today I am starting a road trip to the town of Blossom, Texas as featured in . . .

The Main Characters I chose . . .
It was a toss up.  Choosing which character.  And so I decided to feature both of the main characters.

Meet
Holt . . .  It was hard to ignore this hunky male lead.
Holt is just an all around good guy.
A family man.  A great friend.  And a great business man that takes care of his 'people'.
And he cooks!
Holt isn't looking to get into a relationship since he was just ditched by text.
Who does that?
'. . . I decided I don't want to marry you.'
But then moments later poor rejected Holt ends up in Kayla's diner.

And then there was . . .
Kayla.  Sweet and Sassy and a thorn in Holt's side.  At least for a little while.
Kayla is just sweet I couldn't help but like her.
In the romance department though she's just messed up.
Or more like 'messed with'.  Her ex did a number on her.
Breaking her heart and her spirit.

Join me Wednesday
For an exclusive interview with the author.

Merry Christmas from the Road feat. A Cajun Country Killing by Ellen Byron

Merry Christmas Welcome to my new feature . . .

I chose to begin my road trip visiting Ellen Byron and her great series.  She just happens to have a great cozy Christmas read to share with us.

About the book
In this recipe-stuffed cozy mystery, B&B owner Maggie Crozat joins forces with her longtime enemy to prevent a murderous Grinch from ruining Christmas

Maggie Crozat is back home in bayou country during the most magical time of the year. In Pelican, Louisiana, Christmastime is a season of giant bonfires on the levee, zydeco carols, and pots of gumbo. Except, this year, the Grinch has come to stay at the family-run Crozat Plantation B&B. When he floods travel websites with vicious reviews, Maggie thinks she’s identified him as rival businessman Donald Baxter. That is, until he’s found stabbed to death at Maggie’s workplace. And Maggie and her loved ones become top suspects.

The Crozats quickly establish alibis, but Maggie’s boyfriend, Detective Bo Durand, remains under suspicion. With Bo sidelined during the investigation, Maggie finds herself forced to work with an unlikely ally: longtime family enemy Rufus Durand. Her sleuthing uncovers more suspects than drummers drumming, and lands her in the crosshairs of the murderer.

The sleigh bells are jingling, and the clock is ticking for Maggie and Rufus, who must catch the killer or it will be the opposite of a Joyeux Noël in A Cajun Christmas Killing, the recipe-stuffed third installment of USA Today bestselling author Ellen Byron’s Cajun Country mysteries.

Read an excerpt

A Lagniappe About A Cajun Christmas Killing “Lagniappe” is a Louisiana term that means “a little something extra.” For me, it’s a way of sharing some personal anecdotes about the wonderful region that inspired my Cajun Country Mystery series. The bonfires on the Mississippi levee are an extraordinary Christmas tradition that I recommend everyone experience at least once in their lifetime. Families, friends, and even coworkers spend weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve building the bonfires. As I write in this book, most are pyramids of logs stacked upward of thirty feet. Some people get whimsical and build bonfires shaped like a plantation home, or they rope together stacks of cane reed that snap, crackle, and pop 294 Ellen Byron when lit. During a recent visit, I even saw a bonfire shaped like a pirate ship. Many of the bonfires are laced with strands of firecrackers that add a noisy festivity when the bonfires are lit at seven pm on Christmas Eve. The river roads on both sides of the Mississippi are lined with enthusiastic onlookers who alternate between viewing the bonfires and celebrating at potluck parties packed with delicious homemade Cajun dishes. Bonfires are built up and down the Mississippi on both sides of the river, but the highest concentration is found in St. James Parish, around Gramercy (where we partied), Lutcher, and Paulina. The origin of this tradition is murky. Some trace it all the way back to ancient Europe, where bonfires celebrated the end of a harvest. Others say that in previous centuries the bonfires were a way of guiding boats up the tricky Mississippi River during the holidays. But the most popular explanation of the bonfires on the levee is that they guide Papa Noel’s way to the homes of Cajun children on Christmas Eve. My dream of experiencing the levee bonfires finally came true thanks to a contest sponsored by the River Parishes Tourist Commission. The fabulous prize included a B and B stay, gift cards, swag, and most importantly, a chance to view the bonfires from a private party at a home on the East River Road. The weather was bad on Christmas Eve, and the bonfires were touch and go up until the last minute. My husband, daughter, and I said silent prayers that the event would take place as scheduled and not be postponed until New Year’s Eve when we’d no longer be in town. Luckily, despite a persistent drizzle, the celebration was on. 295 A Cajun Christmas Killing Our hosts were an extended family of adult Cajun siblings who join forces every year to throw a legendary party. Guests may bring sides and desserts, but the family provides the main courses—a variety of jambalayas and gumbos that were hands down the best versions of these dishes I’ve ever eaten. A cry went up from the crowd when the first bonfire was lit, and fireworks exploded from a location down by the river. One by one, the bonfires burst into flames, setting off the firecrackers. I ran from one to another like a kid, getting soaking wet and covered in ash. The smoke haze became so thick, I couldn’t see the person next to me as I slipped and stumbled on the wet levee grass. I shared every aspect of this adventure with Maggie Crozat—including the shower I had to take before attending Christmas Eve Mass. It was one of the most exciting events of my life. * I wanted to share something else with you inspired by a reallife incident. Recently, my daughter and I toured Laura, a Creole plantation on the West River Road. The tour guide told a story about how the family that built the manor house managed to skirt some laws imposed by American rule after the 1804 Louisiana Purchase. “In Louisiana,” she said with a sly wink in a husky smoker’s voice, “we only follow the rules we like.” In a few words, the tour guide summed up a quirky attitude specific to Louisiana. I loved this line so much I gave those exact words to sometime-police chief Rufus Durand. While we’re on the subject of Laura, if you’re considering a visit to Plantation Country, I recommend touring both a 296 Ellen Byron Creole and an American plantation. Laura and Oak Alley are two of several that offer in-depth tours of the former; for the latter, plan a visit to a plantation like Houmas House or Nottoway. You’ll come away with a greater understanding of the differences between the two cultures. And don’t leave the area without visiting Whitney, the only plantation in Louisiana focused solely on slavery. The tour may be heartwrenching, but it’s essential.

Main Character Monday feat Maggie Crozat Cajun Christmas Killing by Ellen Byron

Welcome to Main Character Monday.  Today I am Featuring  . . .

Cast of Characters: Magnolia Marie Crozat, artist, daughter of Ninette and Tug, who are B & B owners. Bo Durand, a Pelican PD detective and Maggie’s boyfriend. Assorted family members, friends, coworkers, and suspects!

Today I am Featuring main character Magnolia 'Maggie'  Crozat. . .
Maggie Crozat is a thirty-two-year-old artist who’s moved home to tiny Pelican, Louisiana, after attending art school and living in New York City. She helps out at her family’s plantation-turned-B&B and also works as a tour guide at a plantation that belong to her mother’s family but is now run by a non-profit foundation and open to visitors. Her artist’s eye gives her a visual acuity that the average person doesn’t possess. She can spot clue and suspicious body language that even the local law enforcement professionals might miss.

Why I chose 'Maggie'
Maggie short for Magnolia (don't you just love that  name? I could go with being called Magnolia.  I could see myself lazing around a Plantation . . .Opp's This about Maggie  right.)
. . . Maggie is one amazing girl.
She keeps herself very busy as a tour guide at her family's plantation.  And helping out her parents at the  family's Bed and Breakfast.
All the while she lives in a little cottage behind the B&B (main house) trying to paint.
She is an artist at heart but family and a murder here and there seems to keep Maggie running around sleuthing and figuring out Who Dun It.

Just when things seem  to be settling done then well more mayhem occurs making Pelican Louisiana a might interesting place to visit.

I have my reservations for Christmas.
 Merry Christmas Ya'll

First Line Friday Featuring A Cajun Christmas Killing by Ellen Byron

 The first line . . .

For Maggie Crozat, there was no where lovelier than Pelican, Louisiana, during the holidays.

And the next couple because this is good . . .

Wrought-iron balconies were threaded with sparkling garlands, and from them dangled colorful Christmas ornaments.

I just love the picture that author Ellen Byron shares with the reader just in these few lines.  Makes me want to go there!

And on page 56 . . .

“Maggie Crozat, is that you again?” Delphine Arnaud responded. Delphine always seemed to be the dispatcher on duty when Maggie stumbled across a dead body.

That's all the teaser's for now.

Dog Days of Christmas feat 12 digs of Christmas by Melissa Hill.

About the book

A festive, heartwarming novella from the #1 bestselling author of noSOMETHING FROM TIFFANY'S and Hallmark Christmas movie fave, A GIFT TO REMEMBER.

Animal lover Lucy feels blessed with her dream job; walking other people’s dogs for a living. The pooches she cares for are her closest friends - as good as family, and Lucy would concede that she certainly understands them a lot more than people.

She wouldn't admit to having favourites among her charges, but if she really had to choose, it would be Berry; a huge, fun-loving Labradane who never stops eating.

A week before Christmas, when dropping Berry back to his elderly owner, Lucy is immediately concerned when there’s no reply. Until a neighbour breaks the news that sadly the old woman has died. And when absent relatives quickly make it clear that the dog is not their problem, Lucy realises she’s the only one left to take care of Berry.

Her landlord won’t let her take him in - even temporarily - so in order to help the big dog find a home in time for the holidays, Lucy needs to push herself out of her comfort zone and into the community in her quest to find Berry his perfect match.

Soon realising that at this time of year, maybe it’s not just dogs but people, who need rescuing too.

'You'll love this enchanting, warm and fun read' **** (Closer)

'Another blissfully escapist read that also keeps readers guessing from page to page... a bit of modern fairy-tale magic... an absorbing tale' (Irish Independent)

They set off to find the perfect old, new, borrowed, and blue treasures, but it doesn't take long for things to spin out of control faster than Gramma's Toyota in a snowstorm. Detoured by a stray border collie, thwarted by nature and an elf parade, and trapped by a rifle-toting mountain man, it will take more than the power of the Kilcannon clan to save these two from a Christmas catastrophe. It will take the luck of the Irish, a love story from long ago, and whole lot of help from the angels to make this holiday merry and bright.

Grounds For Murder by Tara Lush Great Escapes Tour

About the book

When Lana Lewis’ best — and most difficult — employee abruptly quits and goes to work for the competition just days before the Sunshine State Barista Championship, her café’s chances of winning the contest are creamed. In front of a gossipy crowd in the small Florida town of Devil’s Beach, Lana’s normally calm demeanor heats to a boil when she runs into the arrogant java slinger. Of course, Fabrizio “Fab” Bellucci has a slick explanation for jumping ship. But when he’s found dead the next morning under a palm tree in the alley behind Lana’s café, she becomes the prime suspect.

Even the island’s handsome police chief isn’t quite certain of her innocence. But Lana isn’t the only one in town who was angry with Fabrizio. Jilted lovers, a shrimp boat captain, and a surfer with ties to the mob are all suspects as trouble brews on the beach.

With her stoned, hippie dad, a Shih Tzu named Stanley, and a new, curious barista sporting a punk rock aesthetic at her side, Lana’s prepared to turn up the heat to catch the real killer.

After all, she is a former award-winning reporter. As scandal hangs over her beachside café, can Lana clear her name and win the championship — or will she come to a bitter end?

And I thought

A welcome read that kept me warm and Cozy while turning the pages!

Although I am not a Coffee Drinker I almost wanted to pick up a cup.

The beach vibe/location was a welcome read right now during the chilly days.

I enjoyed the characters.  Not sure who I liked the best! While Stanley won my heart the hunky Police Chief Noah adds some sizzle and is working on winning Lana's since she is the murderer.

For a new series Tara Lush gives us a great start.  I can't wait to get back and see what follows.

I received a complimentary copy.

12 Days of Christmas feat. No Room In The Inn by Gracie Ruth Mitchell

About the book

My Granny leaves me two things when she passes away: her dilapidated old inn and a letter encouraging me to have a Hallmark-worthy Christmas here in Woodfield.

But I’ve seen enough Hallmark movies to know this isn’t one. Because the inns in Hallmark movies? They don’t have squatters. The heroines of Hallmark movies? They never burn their gingerbread cookies. And even though all Hallmark films are about the joy of family, I’d rather stick my head in a snowbank than reconcile with my parents. Nope; Granny’s last requests are going to have to go unfulfilled.

And the town Santa Claus, who's way younger and way more attractive than any Santa should be? He's going to have to stop his flirting. Otherwise, I'll never want to leave this place.

My review . . .

I will have a review soon.  I am reading this one now.  But since it is currently 'Free' I wanted to share with you today.
