Author Marc Jedel gives the reader a strong cast that keeps you turning the pages.

The main characters are  Elizabeth and Jonas a newly wed couple that return to Elizabeth's hometown of Jenkins.

Elizabeth struggles a little with returning home to the small town.  It doesn't take long for her to start talking and thinking like she never left.

Jonas hails from the northwest is scratching his head at some of the things Elizabeth, her mom and the town folk say.

And, being Vegan just might be a challenge.  But Jonas knows how to cook and whips up a Vegan Stew that Elizabeth and her mom Mary after they spend along day preparing for an Estate Sale.
The author shared the recipe.  Click Here to visit  My Journey Back the recipe is Featured in Monday's post.

When Jonas goes into town to the grocery he has another culture shock.

But Colton and Billy Ray not only show Jonas the ropes and how to navigate a country grocery store they inadvertently offer a few clues that just might help get Elizabeth off!

On The Road -Character Interview feat. Daisy the Dog -fish Out of Water by Marc Jedel

With last week’s events, chronicled in FISH OUT OF WATER, now safely in the past, I thought it would be good to interview one of the characters to help you learn a little more about what happened. However, everyone is still extremely busy dealing with the aftermath so I could only secure an interview with Daisy. She’s Jonas and Elizabeth Trout’s dog. Since she was in on most of the action, I thought she could bring us a unique perspective on what happened.

“Hi, there. You must be Daisy,” I said, bending over to pet the well-groomed border collie who had come over to greet me.

“Yes, yes, I am. I’m Daisy Trout.” She “spoke” quickly in an excited tone as she sniffed my hand and seemed to smile at me.

“Well, you’re a real cutie, aren’t you?”

“Why thank you. You smell very nice too. Is that coconut soap?” She took one more inhale to confirm.

I knelt down so I’d be on eye level with her. “So I wanted to interview you to learn more about Jonas and Elizabeth—”

“Oh,” she interrupted. “They’re my humans. They’re the best.” She wagged her tail enthusiastically.

“Can you tell me a little about—”

Daisy dashed away before I could finish my question but returned nearly as quickly. “I’m terribly sorry,” she said with a bashful expression on her face. “I thought they were going for a walk. But they’re not.”

I nodded sympathetically at her sad expression. “It’s okay. I understand. So about Jonas and Elizabeth—”

“Oh, they’re the best,” Daisy interjected.

“That’s . . . that’s wonderful,” I said. “I understand you helped them out last week?”

Jiggling from side to side, she answered, “It was nothing. I’m just happy to help. I’m truly, truly happy. I really like it here.”

“Yes, Arkansas can be beautiful.”

“It smells good. But I liked the other places too.”

“What places?” I asked.

“All the other places.” She nodded as if to agree with herself. “Wherever Jonas and Elizabeth take me is great. They’re the best. Oh, excuse me.” She dashed off again.

She returned shortly. “So sorry. They’re too busy right now, but Jonas petted me!” She turned in a tight circle and wagged her tail vigorously, nearly knocking over a picture frame on the side table.

Catching her eye again, I said, “Getting back to our interview, I heard you did something special to help solve the case last week.”

“Oh, everybody’s special. I’m just happy I helped. I am happy here. It’s so much better than being in that shelter.”

“That’s right, you’re a rescue dog, aren’t you?”

“No, I haven’t rescued anybody.” Daisy shook her head.

“I mean Jonas and Elizabeth adopted you from a shelter that specializes in rescuing abused dogs,” I said.

“They’re the best.” Daisy nodded firmly before growing solemn. “I don’t like to talk about before them. It wasn’t very good.” Her mood brightened again. “Now everything is great.”

“Let’s just talk about last week then,” I suggested. “How did you help solve the case?”

“I don’t know. Things just happened.” Daisy appeared to shrug. “I just went for walks and looked around at everything. Same old same old for me. I don’t understand why everyone made a fuss over me. Oh! I went running a lot with Jonas. He likes to run. I do too. It’s super fun.”

Realizing that was probably all I’d get from her, I wrapped things up. “Well, thanks Daisy for sharing your thoughts with our readers today.”

“I’m very glad I could help,” she said. “Can I ask you a question, though?”

“Sure,” I said as I put away my pen and notebook.

“Could you take me for a walk?”

If you’d like to meet Daisy’s owners and learn what actually happened last week with the murder, sleuthing, and secrets, be sure to read FISH OUT OF WATER.

It’s the first book in Marc Jedel’s new Ozarks Lake Mystery series. The second book will be titled SWIMMING WITH THE FISHES. Plus, he’s still writing more books in his Silicon Valley Mystery series

On The Road feat. Fish Out of Water by Marc Jedel

Welcome to On The Road

This week we are traveling to Arkansas and featuring . . .

About the book

A small-town homicide. A community swamped in secrets. Can married amateur sleuths bait and capture the killer before the truth slips away?

Elizabeth Trout had escaped her rural Arkansas hometown. Compelled to sort through her deceased grandmother’s belongings, she and her new husband Jonas make an unexpected trip down south to the family ranch. But when the property manager turns up dead, Elizabeth is rocked when her ex-boyfriend-turned-deputy arrests her for the murder.

As incriminating evidence piles up and the sheriff’s convinced he’s got the right suspect, Elizabeth and Jonas must fish for clues on their own. With a multitude of potential culprits and her husband’s contrasting personality, Elizabeth fears she may be left dangling on the hook for a crime she didn’t commit.

Can these newlyweds net the real killer before Elizabeth is jailed for murder?

Fish Out of Water is the charming first book in the new Ozarks Lake Mystery series from the best-selling author of the Silicon Valley Mystery series. If you like quirky characters, clever twists and turns, and puzzling whodunits, then you’ll love Marc Jedel’s humorous tale.

While visiting the land of Miss Marple and Sherlock Holmes, bookstore owner and amateur sleuth Samantha Washington finds herself on a tragical mystery tour . . .

The chance to see the sights and walk the streets that inspired Agatha Christie and Arthur Conan Doyle is a dream come true for Sam—and a perfect way to celebrate her new publishing contract as a mystery author.

But between visits to Jack the Ripper’s Whitechapel district and 221B Baker Street, Major Horace Peabody is found dead, supposedly of natural causes. Despite his employer’s unfortunate demise, the tour guide insists on keeping calm and carrying on—until another tourist on their trip also dies under mysterious circumstances. Now it’s up to Sam and the Shady Acres ladies to mix and mingle among their fellow mystery lovers, find a motive, and turn up a murderer . . .

And I thought . . .
First there's the cover. I am a cover Junkie and this one got me.
Then there are Nana and her friends and thier craziness that steals the show.  I think V.M.Burns  is  Golden Girls fan.
And the locale and the superb discripton of England makes you feel like your there.
The main character Sam not only owns a book store but she is a writer too and when she gets the chance between present day Murders she is penning a story of her own.
So the reader has more than one murder to try and solve.
The twists and turns will keep you turning the pages.

Grand Openings Can Be Murder by Amber Royer Great Escapes Tour

About the book

Felicity Koerber has had a rough year. She’s moving back to Galveston Island and opening a bean to bar chocolate factory, fulfilling a dream she and her late husband, Kevin, had shared. Craft chocolate means a chance to travel the world, meeting with farmers and bringing back beans she can turn into little blocks of happiness, right close to home and family.

She thinks trouble has walked into her carefully re-built world when puddle-jump pilot Logan Hanlon shows up at her grand opening to order custom chocolates. Then one of her employees drops dead at the party, and Felicity’s one-who-got-away ex-boyfriend – who’s now a cop – thinks Felicity is a suspect. As the murder victim’s life becomes more and more of a mystery, Felicity realizes that if she’s going to clear her name in time to save her business, she might need Logan’s help. Though she’s not sure if she’s ready to let anyone into her life – even if it is to protect her from being the killer’s next victim. For Felicity, Galveston is all about history, and a love-hate relationship with the ocean, which keeps threatening to deliver another hurricane – right into the middle of her investigation. Can she figure it out before all the clues get washed away?

 And I thought . . .

One of the best new series I've read!  Amber Royer brings the reader a mystery that keeps you guessing and turning the pages.

As a native Texan I couldn't help but love the location of Galveston Island.  I also enjoyed the Chocolate Shop and that Felicity's aunt's flips houses.  Which is spot-on for the area.

There are alot of Characters and I thought providing the reader with a cast would have been helpful.

But I enjoyed the book none the less.  I thinking having to slow down and get the characters straight added to the story making  a better read.

I visited the authors website.  It is definitely worth stopping in at Amber Royer.com.

I am looking forward to more in this series.  It will be fun hanging out with Felicity and see what happens next.

 I received a complimentary copy.

My review will appear on Good Reads and retail sites.

The Rebel Prince by Jewell Allen

About the book

Here is black sheep Prince Mateo's long-awaited story, the stunning conclusion to the Royal Billionaires of Mondragón series.

There would be some catching up to do. Healing wounds. Making amends.

And then I saw her. A woman from my recent past.

After a few painful heartbeats, my scarred, cynical heart started to come alive again. She held her elegant blonde head up high, as befitting her tall stature.

Through the distance, in the crowd, her eyes burned.

With recognition. Hurt. Yearning.

Just like I felt.

The series . . .

 0. Her Billionaire Prince

1. The Untamed Prince

2. The Secret Prince

2.5 Sophia’s Christmas Wish: A Novella

3. The Broken Prince

4. The Reckless Prince

5. The Rebel Prince

And I thought

I love to read the various stand alone and series titles featuring Royals written by numerous different authors.

I have read several of the series by Jewell  and really enjoy the sweet clean romances  she offers readers.

The Rebel Prince is book 5 in the Royal Billionaires of Mondragon  and it was a really good read.  There was a little suspense as the book is set in Cuba and 'Mat'  Mateo is a spy with a few bad guys wanting to take him out because if his past.

But he is planning on retiring from the spy game until he is offered the job of body guard to Adele as a cover for the 'real' job that puts a cool 'Mill' in his pocket.

The book is a fast read because it is just a page turner.

There is some Romance.  Well alot of sweet Romance and a little hesitation on Adele's part because they have a history.

But no bean spilling here!

The Rebel Prince is just a good sweet romance for all ages.

I received a complimentary copy.

My review will appear on Amazon and Good Reads.

The Rebel Prince will be featured on future posts in My Reading Journeys, My Journey Back the Journey Back and promoted in social media.
