Shelter in the Storm by Laurel Blount New Release Review

About the book

In this moving Amish romance, two broken hearts find hope in each other after a terrible loss.

Unspeakable tragedy strikes the Amish hamlet of Johns Mill when an unstable Englischer opens fire in the Hochstedler’s General Store. In the aftermath, and under the media’s spotlight, Joseph Hochstedler struggles to hold his shattered family together, drawing unexpected comfort from a faithful childhood friend.

Born with a serious heart defect, optimist Naomi Schrock has always longed to live a life of service. She rolls up her sleeves, determined to help Joseph cope with this terrible crisis. But dare she hope that his friendship will finally deepen into love?

As the media’s obsession with the Hochstedler shooting escalates, Joseph and Naomi find themselves caught between tradition and compromise, lingering sorrows and uncertain hopes. And in the end, two people who’ve already lost far too much must find the courage to trust their hearts one last time.

And others are saying...

And I thought  ...

I have read several Romances by Laurel Blount and loved each one so when I was offered  her newest I jumped at the chance.

I don't  read alot Amish  Romances  but since I like the author I was excited  to turn the pages.

What I found was much more than I suspected.  And I was surprised how the Englischer world collided into the quiet  Amish Community.

Laurel  Blount created a sweet love story edgy with suspense and drama.

I was turning the pages but also a bit sad because I didn't  want it to end.  But since Shelter in the Storm is book 1 I'll get another chance to visit Johns Mill and some great characters.

Death By Donut by Rebecca M Douglas Great Escapes Tour / Review

And I thought

I always like to get in at the beginning  of a series.

But I didn't  get a chance with this one.

I was glad that author  Rebecca Douglas  chose to promote her book with Great Escapes  and giving me the chance read Death By Donut

I love a good glazed DoNut and I am glad it wasn't  one that caused all the ruckus!

The cover drew me in.   I like a cover that gives a few hints and that isn't silly.

I enjoyed  meeting  J.J. and the cast.

J.J. was a great character. She was tough.  Quick thinking.  Strong and Compassionate. And can drive an emergency  vehicle in a pinch.

Poor girl has so much going on she is need of a vacation!

The story kept me turning the pages and trying to figure out who did it.

I loved this book and have added the previous  3 to my wish list.

I received a complimentary copy.

My review will appear on Good Reads and retail sites.

And I thought
I love this series! Author Debra H. Goldstein  gives the ready wonderful  characters, plots nd food!

The only negative  think I can say about the book and the series is the covers and titles.  Maybe it's  just me but they all seem so close to the same that I can't  keep them straight.

Call me lazy but when I am book shopping I want to be able to think to myself 'Oh a new Sara Blair  book!' And snatch it up without having to read the back to make  I haven't  read it.

I do really  enjoy this series!

Treasure Most Deadly by Terry Ambrose Great Escapes Tour Review

About the book

Seaside Cove amateur sleuths Rick and Alexandra Atwood are back!

Seaside Cove Bed & Breakfast owner Rick Atwood is again called on to assist his friend, Chief of Police Adam Cunningham, with a murder investigation. The case seems straightforward enough. Clive Crabbe, who has a quick temper and a strong jealous streak, was found hunched over the victim after the man made advances toward Clive’s ex-wife.

A murder investigation is the last thing Rick wants right now. The B&B is booked solid. The town is inundated with tourists and news reporters chasing stories about treasure thieves. And Rick’s wedding to Marquetta Weiss is just weeks away. As if that wasn’t enough, Rick’s eleven-year-old daughter Alex is not only itching to help the cops solve another murder, but she’s forming an unhealthy friendship with a B&B guest.

As the murder investigation progresses, Rick realizes Alex’s new friend could be at the center of everything. The worst part is that Alex may be the one person capable of cracking the case.

 And I thought

Another super fun read in a super fun series.

The reader gets a cast of main characters that are charming and delightful.

Alex the 11year old daughter just charms your socks off!   She is 11 going on ?  She is smart and savvy and leaves no stone unturned when she finds a mystery or a crime to solve.

Alex's father Rick really just kina wants to leave crime solving behind and just restore and manager the B&B but with all the murders happening he gets recruited once again.

I enjoy all the main characters Rick and Marquetta (his fiance).  Alex's friends.  And the townspeople.

There are new characters that blend into the crowd in each book. Lot's of tourists, travelers and treasure hunters.  Each adding a bit of interest and a few make the suspect list.

I really enjoy this series.  I have read a few of the other books in the Authors Hawaii series and have enjoyed them .

Terry Ambrose is one author that has made his way into my favorites list.  Ong with Alex.😁

I received a complimentary copy.

WHOLE LATTE MURDER GREAT ESCAPES TOUR -

May 4 – My Reading Journeys – REVIEW

About the book

Ex-New Yorker and local diner owner Gia Morelli is still getting used to the sweltering Florida sun. But this summer she’ll have to deal with a more dangerous kind of heat—when she’s hot on the trail of another murderer . . .

Summer in Boggy Creek has arrived, and Gia’s best friend, successful real estate agent Savannah, is getting hitched. Now she’s enlisted Gia’s sleuthing talents in a desperate search for the perfect wedding dress. But when Savannah mysteriously vanishes after showing a mansion to a bigwig client, Gia investigates the house Savannah was trying to sell. The first clue she finds is Savannah’s car in the driveway. Inside the house, they stumble on Savannah’s potential buyer—dead. Someone had apparently closed the deal—with a two by four full of nails to the client’s head. Soon afterward, a woman’s body is fished from the lake near the same house. The townsfolk are now sweating bullets over the murders, and the heat comes down on poor Gia to find her missing friend, and track down the killer . . .

And I thought

The All Day Breakfast Cafe is a fun to read Cozy Series.

I have enjoyed books I have read.

The Author does not disappoint as she adds now book 5 as another standalone story.  Don't worry jump in anytime.

There are always a bunch of twists and turns to follow as the reader turns the pages.

The main group of Characters are fun.

I enjoy the Diner/Cafe and end up hungry.  All the food sounds so good.

This is  another fun read in a great series.

Peaches and Schemes by Anna Gerard Great Escapes Tour Review Giveaway

About the book

In Anna Gerard’s third delightful Georgia B&B mystery, Nina Fleet learns that despite the satin, lace, and buttercream trappings, weddings often prove to be anything but sweet…

Nina Fleet might be new to the innkeeping business, but she’s savvy enough to know that Cymbeline’s tourists aren’t enough to keep her fledgling bed and breakfast going. And so, Nina decides to tap into the destination wedding market by taking a booth at the Veils and Vanities Bridal Expo. The twice-yearly event is sponsored by the town’s two wedding pros: Virgie Hamilton, the sixtysomething owner of Virgie’s Formals, and Roxanna Quarry, a Gen X event planner and Nina’s new friend. But everything goes wrong during the expo’s fashion show, when Roxanna comes tumbling out of an oversized prop wedding cake, strangled to death by her own scarf.

Virgie is arrested for the crime, thanks to Nina’s statement to the police about having overheard the woman accusing her partner of embezzlement. Meanwhile, the situation grows tense with her sometimes nemesis and current tenant, the dashing out-of-work actor Harry Westcott. Harry is concentrating on plugging his most recent side hustle …but he’s not too busy to break the news to Nina that her ex-husband is engaged to be married again.

Certain that Virgie’s only offense is a bad temper, Nina decides to do her own investigating. First, however, she and Harry retrieve Roxanna’s now ownerless dog, planning to foster him until a new home can be found. But local gossip soon convinces Nina that others beside Virgie might have had reason to murder Roxanna. As Nina gets close to the truth, she’s putting her own life at danger. And when Virgie vanishes after being bailed out of jail by an unknown benefactor, Nina fears that if she can’t find the dress shop owner in time, tying the knot will take on a whole new meaning for them both.

And I thought

I love Bed and Breakfast lodging.

I love Cozy Mysteries set in a Bed and Breakfast.

The stories set in a B&B can be endless!

Throw in a wedding event makes for a Happy Reader!

And the cover!  I live the cover.  It beckoned me to turn the pages.

Author Anna Gerard gives the reader a light hearted story filled with fun Characters and interesting relationships!

The main characters Nina and Harry have an odd growing relationship.  Friends maybe. Enemies maybe.  Or well maybe in the next book we will get a clue.

I enjoyed reading Peaches and Schemes and I have the previous books on my TBR list.  This is a series that I enjoy!

I received a complimentary copy.

My review will appear on retail sites and Good Reads.
