Murder Most Pemberley by Jessica Berg Great Escapes Tour

Eat a crumpet. Check. Say “bloody hell” in an English pub. Check. Solve three murders and fall in love? Definitely not on the list. But when England dishes up murder, even an American girl knows it’s time to channel her inner Agatha Christie.

American Eliza Darcy travels to Merry Old England to partake in a Darcy/Bennet family reunion for one reason: to solve the estrangement between her father and uncle. Not long after Eliza’s arrival and exploration of the vast estate of her ancestors, a dead body surfaces. Murder and mayhem replace afternoon teas and flirting with her British heartthrob. Eliza has every intention of keeping her snoot out of official Scotland Yard business, but when clues to the murder begin to merge with her investigation into her family’s rift, her inner wannabe sleuth self-activates.

With the help of her batty great-aunt and the sexy Heath Tilney, Eliza hurries to untangle the web of lies and secrets. As corpses start to pile up faster than the clues, Eliza fears the estate’s family graveyard will swallow another body: hers.

And I thought . . .

Another great beginning.  This is one of my favorite reasons to be a part of tours. I gat the chance to meet new authors, new characters. And begin brand new series.

I loved the setting.  All the Brisish "speak'.

Author Jessica is Berg made me feel like I was there.  And a good feeling it was.

Well until all the bodies began to pile up.

With every good Cozy we get a good sleuth and hopefully a bit of Romance or the promise of an eventual Happy Ending for the main character.

Eliza is a fun character.   A good daughter and niece.  And a fairly decent sleuth.

There were quirky characters with a bit of 'Brittishness'.  And a stuffy character or two.  And then there was handsome Heath.  I wanted to take him home myself!

I turned the pages unable to put my phone down.  Following a few twists that kept me guessing and interested.

I enjoyed the beginning of this series and look forward to many more.

I received a complimentary copy.

I will also post reviews in retail sites.

Dog Treats Doxie's & Danger by Sharon Michaels

About the book

Who would have thought a dog treat recipe could cause so much trouble?
Let me ask you this:
What happens when a sleazy tabloid reporter and a washed-up celebrity chef team up to get what Sara, Sam, Oscar and Lucky have?

How about…
Being stalked, having their RV ransacked, experiencing a chilling dognapping, and then coming face-to-face with a dangerous man carrying a gun – all this in just the first days of the Mitchell’s fun and relaxing vacation.

*****
Why not buy an RV and see the country? It’ll be fun!

That’s what Sara Mitchell thought when she’d finally had enough of the blistering Southern Arizona summer heat and then, talked her husband in to buying a recreational vehicle. Sara and Sam Mitchell with their mini-dachshunds Oscar and Lucky, are ready to hit the open road and enjoy some cooler temperatures and new adventures.

Little did the Mitchell’s realize they’d be learning first-hand to be more careful about what they ask for. Their plan was to head to the Colorado Dog Show, sign Sara’s books about Oscar the Doxie Detective and sell some of her organic dog treats. That was the plan.

They thought they were going to enjoy a relaxing road trip in their new RV, but in a blink of an eye their trip turned into more than they bargained for – much, much more.

Oscar and Lucky are on the job to sniff out criminals and figure out exactly who is behind all the trouble. But can they figure it out in time, before a dog or human gets hurt?

Sometimes even the best laid out plans can go wrong, terribly wrong.

Sit back with your favorite beverage and enjoy this fun, cozy and clean dog gone good who done it short read mystery.

And I thought

A page turner!  I loved this little short read.

It was hard to put down.

Sharon Michaels crafts a fun story with some twists and turns and some  villainy.

The main characters Sarah and Sam dog parents to Oscar (who is famous) and Lucky the new rescue risk it all even Millions of $ to keep their little family together and safe.

Through thick and thin even when a down and out Chef and a tabloid reporter begin following them around intent on stealing Sara's secret recipes the foursome (humans and dogs) watch each other's backs.

I loved that we got the perspectives from the dogs point of view.

The story was super well written, engaging and believable.

There were some twists and turns and kind of a surprise at the end at least I didn't expect it.

I will be adding the earlier books on my wish list.

I got the chance to add this book to my Kindle when it was offered Free a few days ago.

My review is will appear on Amazon and Good Reads.

Framed and Frosted by Kim Davis Great Escapes Tour Review

About the book

Framed and Frosted, the third book in the Cupcake Catering Mystery series, finds cupcake caterer, Emory Martinez, working at a Laguna Beach society Fourth of July soiree, with her sister and their new employee, Sal. With a host that seems intent on accosting both catering employees and guests alike, things go from bad to worse when he accuses Sal of murdering his long-dead son.

As the crescendo of exploding fireworks overhead becomes the backdrop for cupcakes and champagne, a deadly murder occurs. Can Sal and Emory explain why the cupcake the host ate, after shoving a trayful of buttercream frosted cupcakes onto Sal, resulted in his death? Or will the guests and detective alike believe that Sal is a murderer? Emory and her octogenarian employer, Tillie, whip into action to find out who framed Sal after being frosted by the victim.

Includes recipes!

And others are saying

I love the plot in Framed and Frosted. Along with a well-crafted mystery, a lot of other things happen in the book. As much as I’d love to divulge those things, I won’t! You’ll have to find them out for yourself.
~Christy’s Cozy Corners

Kim Davis is an awesome storyteller and her books are amazing treats that should not be missed!
~Escape With Dollycas Into A Good Book

This story does pack in a lot of sub-plots . . . they only add to the story and do not detract at all. I was amazed at how the author kept everything flowing smoothly and wove each story succinctly into the major plot.
~Storeybook Reviews

Wow! Once I started reading Framed and Frosted, I couldn’t put it down! . . . Davis keeps readers on the edge of their seats as she crafts a suspenseful mystery with plenty of surprising twists and turns.
~Reading Is My SuperPower

I was so engrossed in this story and trying to solve the mystery, it had started getting dark outside and I found myself squinting to continue reading. Seriously, I couldn’t be bothered to turn a light on because I was so invested in figuring out what was going on, and following along with more twists and turns than buttercream swirls on a cupcake!
~Lisa Ks Book Reviews

The mystery was well plotted and there were enough clues to sift through and suspects to consider. I really enjoyed trying to figure out the murderer.
~MJB Reviewers

And I thought

I love getting into the beginning of a series.

I was lucky enough to begin A Cupcake Caring Mystery series with book two Cake Popped Off.  My review is over  Here (it was my favorite read of last year)

I still need to go back to book one because this series is so good and I want to read them all!

After meeting the main characters in book two I was excited to get the chance to continue the series.

I tend to wonder if the books/storylines will get better and better with each new release.

Well Kim Davis does not disappoint!

Davis weaves and plots a Cozy with several suspects to consider.  And a few twists and turns to keep you interested and turning the pages.

And, the promise of a recipe or two at the end and this reader is happily engaging in the mystery and mayhem!

And did I mention how much I love covers in this series!  The covers just beg you to open and make you want cake.  I love how festive each cover is.

I love this series and I am looking forward to book 4.

Book 1 is beckoning me and on my Wish List.

I received a complimentary copy.

My review will appear on retail sites and Good Reads.

Meet Claire

I write books with wide skies, romantic western settings, small towns and the occasional big city. Most of all, I tell heartfelt stories of people finding hope, home and happily-ever-after.

These days I'm working on a series set in a fictional Northern California town that I've named Shelter Creek. The stories are very emotional and romantic, but fun too! There are ranchers trying to make ends meet, and scientists trying to protect local wildlife, and all kinds of quirky, small-town characters getting involved as well. I'm thrilled that this sweet romance series is well received by readers!

To Love A Cowboy feat. How To Marry A Cowboy by Cathy Mc David

About the book

Confronting her former crush

Trick rider Kenna Hewitt can’t avoid the company of Channing Pearce—not when the handsome cowboy needs Kenna’s help saving his family’s rodeo arena. Working together, and being in a wedding together, soon has old feelings resurfacing. But as a gal who does stunts for a living, trusting in a possible future with the cowboy of her dreams is still the most dangerous task she’s ever faced…

Read an excerpt . . .

Channing clearly understood Kenna’s reservations without her having to go into detail. It was nice. Not for the first time she wondered why no woman had snatched him up.

“Thanks for everything.” She put a hand on his arm.

            “Anytime.”

It was, Kenna realized, their first physical contact in fourteen years, ever since that high school dance and their kiss. He’d filled out, the muscles beneath his shirt sleeve more pronounced than she remembered. He’d grown taller, too. She had to raise her chin several notches to meet his gaze.

            “There you are, kitten!”

Inwardly, she cringed at the childhood nickname. Outwardly, she manufactured a smile and pivoted. “Hi, Mom.”

The smile faltered. Gracie Hewitt–Jacobson-Cordova-soon-to-be-Sutter — Kenna had to constantly remind herself or she’d lose track — wasn’t alone. She came toward them, balancing Beau’s eight-month-old daughter Skye on her hip. Yes, Kenna was about to become step-sister to a baby, one young enough to be her own child.

“We’ve been looking for you.” Kenna’s mom raised the baby’s hand and shook it in something resembling a wave. “Say hi to your big sister. And Uncle Channing, too.”

            Uncle Channing?

“He was about to head to the livestock pens,” Kenna said when her mom reached them. No way would she force him to stay.

He shrugged. “I’m in no hurry.”

“Wonderful!” Kenna’s mom beamed. “Me, my maid of honor, and Beau’s groomsman all together and watching my handsome fiancĂ©.”

Kenna blinked at her mom in disbelief. “Groomsman?”

            “Channing. Can you believe it?”

She turned around to face him, attempting to mask her surprise. “You’re in the wedding?”

            “I thought you knew.”

“No.” Her voice trailed off. “I didn’t.”

The news bothered her even though it shouldn’t. Maybe because she’d begun planning for the time they’d spend together as a refuge from the constant chaos of her mom’s wedding.

Well, obviously that wasn’t going to happen. Just like her, he was smack dab in the middle of things — for better or worse, no pun intended.

Meet the author . . .

Jocie describes herself . . .

I have a, well, a diverse background. I’ve lived in several states, and attended a local community college. I married a remarkable man who can fix anything. We have two daughters, and inherited two great son-in-laws and we now are the proud grandparents of, gulp, five grand-kids.

That was the official bio.

Now, for the truth. I live on Dust Bunny Farm, the name is self-explanatory. I often laugh out loud at the most inappropriate moments. I can find humor in nearly every situation, and I don’t take life all that seriously. I’ve been known to jump on stage and sing karaoke without ever having taken a sip of liquor, I am the person who pushes all the buttons on those holiday ornaments so they make annoying noise in unison and then I’ll turn around and blame it on one of my kids.

I am the person at the traffic light next to you singing to the top of my lungs and playing ‘air’ drums.

I prefer tea to coffee, and carbs to sweets. Here

I can write a story about anything. One of the first articles I ever sold was about the personality of an apron. I write stories that tend to be happy, because the world need less conflict and more happiness, and gee, we all need to laugh at ourselves a lot more often.
