Sweet romance,  a little suspense and mystery favorites.  I was not disappointed.  When I was offered the chance to read this one I 

didn't hesitated to say yes.  Petie McCarty is quickly becoming a favorite and she did not disappoint with this one. 

The romance between Kellen and Luke is challenging because of  Kellen's past and she has no desire to stay in town.  But her attraction to Luke makes her think twice about her plans.  

The is some scandal in Luke's family that causes  him to  struggle with  how the past past affects his future. 

And then there is the whole criminal activity going on right under the noses.  

No Cowboys No Angels is a fast paced page turning book that will keep you interested and the edge of your seat all the way to the end.

“So, why are you here? On my front porch. Peeking in my windows.”

Kellen gave Luke a glare fit for the devil. “I was not peeking. I was trying to see if anyone was home.”

He waited.

Her eyes narrowed. “I didn’t want anything.” She hesitated. “I wasn’t doing anything.”

“Well, if you didn’t want anything and you weren’t doing anything . . .” He eased the powerful horse right up next to her though she stood her ground on the bottom step. “. . . then you must need a ride home.”

He snatched her off the step before she could answer and counted on the little spitfire having the presence of mind to swing her leg over the horse when Windsor took off. She didn’t disappoint him. The stallion streaked for the break in the tree line, and she clung to him like a tick on a coon dog. The feel of her arms around his waist had his heart rate matching Windsor’s rhythmic gait once again. Through the tree break and across her unplowed fields, they galloped.

He should slow the horse on the uneven ground. He really should. But if he did, Kellen would loosen her death grip on him.

The sure-footed stallion galloped across the fields as though he knew right where Luke was headed. He waited to the last possible second to rein in the black horse at Kellen’s front steps, then reached around at the same time to slide her off Windsor’s back. Once her feet touched the ground with her balance assured, he tapped his heels to the stallion and cantered back across the fields. He didn’t dare risk a backward glance and spoil his memory of the ride with another hard glare from the beauty.

The girl huddled on the concrete bench in the corner of the cell, her knees tucked to her chin. She appraised Griff with green eyes, then looked away. Her stretch leggings were a size too small and her top plunged to dangerous levels. Bright red nails and false lashes added finishing touches. The spike heels that completed the ensemble sat outside the cell door.

Griff sat next to her. “I’m Detective Griffin.”
She turned her face away and remained silent.

“I want to help you. I know you’re a slave, not a hooker.. This isn’t your life. They took your life from you.”

The girl scooted closer to the wall. “You’re going to get me killed.”

“Give me a name and I can end this.”

“I talk to you, I’m dead.”

“Is it Rosetti? Just blink. Twice for yes, once for no.”

She swallowed and blinked twice.

Griff opened the girl’s file and read the name. “Carrie. I’m going to help you. Hang in there, okay?”

Keys rattled in the lock and the door opened. An expensive suit filled the doorway in front of the duty officer. Carrie got to her feet and squeezed out of the cell.

“I hope you weren’t interviewing my client without her attorney present,” the suit said.

Griff stood eye to eye with the lawyer. “Of course not. I check on all the girls to make sure they don’t need medical assistance. She fully exercised her right to remain silent, and seems perfectly healthy.” She snapped the file closed and shouldered past him.

“Well?” Stacey asked when Griff returned to her desk.

“Definitely Rosetti’s. One of his hounds showed up before I got very far.”

“Now what?”

“Get inside Rosetti’s estate.”

“Good lord. If you disappear, where should I look?”

“The river or the morgue.”

“That’s not funny.”

“It wasn’t a joke,” she said on her way out the door. The bruises on Carrie’s neck and arms weren’t from an affectionate boyfriend. She needed help and, apparently, Griff was the only one willing to try.

The traffic blurred as the sun sank into a lava flow of cloud. Streetlights blinked on as she took the long route up the hill. She parked in the shadow of a hedged yard and killed the engine. Through the binoculars, Rosetti’s gate resembled a castle entrance. Fine brickwork and scrolled iron. A guard station squatted on the left side of the cobbled drive. Strategically placed floodlights revealed security pacing the fence. Handguns and batons hung from their belts.

Cracks of golden light seeped through drawn drapes on the massive house. And behind those drapes, a varied collection of human product. Whatever their clients could afford, they could have. Rosetti made sure of it.

Straight up prostitution. Easy peasy. Kids? No problem. If the product gave him trouble, snuff. Have fun with it. Knock yourself out. Pay before play. That money trickled through the filter of a hundred businesses, dripping out squeaky clean at the bottom. His web of connections kept him untouchable.

Griff planned to touch him.

And I thought 

My first thought as I turned the last page was 'Wow'.  I did not know or expect to like  love this book as much as I did. 

I read and review  alot of  books and sadly sometimes they just all seem to run together and are good.  But it's rare that I can describe as 'great'  Crimson Falls is one that I would put in the great category.  

I was surprised how much I enjoyed reading this book. 

I was totally surprised that it was really more about Zach's love affair with Troyan than the vendetta/goal that Griff has to clean things up and put the bad guys away.  

It's all pulled together because Troyan is a victim of the group of people that Griff is trying to stop from all thier crimes.  

  There are no sex or bedroom scenes which is surprising because the book is about human trafficking.    There is a bit of language like in a lot of books and some use of the word 'retard'  which Griff uses for Zach.  It's used as a 'pet name' for him when he does things not quite smart.  But I didn't take it as a negative.  I did not think of people that are handicapped and I don't think that the writer's really meant it derogatory for handicapped people.  

In the end everything was all tied up.  The bad people were stopped in their tracks.  Most of the victims were saved and there was 
a happily ever after for Zach and Troyan.  

I was left hoping that we might get a book 2 with Griff's love story. 
Hint. Hint.

 And I thought. . . This is a series that I have come to love. I had the opportunity to read the 2nd book and really enjoyed it so I was glad to have this chance to read more.    

As I said in my previous review the small quaint and quiet town of Taylorsford isn't so quiet.  

There is more crime and drama happening giving the reader a few hours of reading enjoyment.  

I've enjoyed the characters of the series and enjoyed them more with this one.  Things change a bit when Richard Amy's boyfriend gets tangled in something and ends up  becoming  a person of interest in the police investigation. 

This is a fun cozy series.  I have enjoyed every moment and look forward to more!

And I thought 

A great read.  I  enjoyed getting into this series.  I didn't get the 

chance to read book 1  bu t it was easy to jump into book 2. 

Death by a Whisker was a great fast paced page turning  read.

I enjoyed the setting of the suspense, mystery and drama around

the theme of  the animal shelter.  

The characters human and animal are fun and made this one an 

enjoyable Cozy read. 

I especially liked the cover.

The mystery plot might keep the reader guessing who actually did it because well there were quiet a few people that were 'ticked off'

by the victim.  

If you love a good cozy.  Then check out this series. 

I'll be reading book 1 as soon as I get a chance.

There is a 'bit' of sizzle.  Grandma would be handing MaMa than fan while telling her 'Keep reading.  It's worth it.'
I enjoyed Can't Let Go and look forward to much more from 
Chrissy Brown.
