Broadcast 4 Murder by J.C. Eaton-Great Escapes Tour-Review/Giveaway

About the book

All of Arizona’s Sun City West heard Sophie “Phee” Kimball’s mom scream bloody murder, but it’s up to the reluctant sleuth to find the killer . . .

Phee’s mother Harriet is going to be a star! At least, that’s how the Sun City West retiree describes her chance to host a live radio program of her book club’s Booked 4 Murder Mystery Hour on Arizona’s KSCW. But instead of chatting about charming cozies, Harriet ends up screaming bloody murder over the airwaves after discovering the body of Howard Buell, the station’s programming director, in a closet—with a pair of sewing shears shoved into his chest.

The number one suspect is Howard’s ex-girlfriend Sylvia Strattlemeyer who believed she was going to host a sewing talk show before Harriet was offered the spot. But not only do the fingerprints found on the scissors not match Sylvia’s, they belong to a woman who passed away twenty years ago at the age of ninety-seven. Now, with the whole town on pins and needles, it’s up to Phee to stitch together enough clues from the past to uncover the identity of a killer in the present . . .

And I thought

Another great cozy read by and amazing husband and wife 💕 team!

I always enjoy the covers in this series.  The comical sprit speaks to what you'll find inside.

There's plenty of chuckles and mystery too that will keep you turning the pages.

Main Character Monday feat Shaw Wilder - Jungle Fire by Dana Mentink

Welcome to Main Character Monday the day I feature a character in a book that stood out to me.

Today let me introduce to you Shaw Wilder the male lead in Jungle Fire by author Dana Mintink.

Dana  was gracious enough to share a few thoughts with us . . . Shaw Wilder is an expatriate living in Guatemala with his only real friend, his dog. He blames a missionary for leading his sister into danger which resulted in her death. He’s angry at God, preferring a hard bitten life in the jungle instead of facing his raw grief. When he saves Nina Truman from a burning bus, he has no intention of sticking around, until he realizes she will not last long without him.

This book was very interesting to write because it gave me a chance to chat with my mother about her experiences living in Guatemala. My uncle also contributed to the story as well as a friend who served as a missionary in that country. I hope you will enjoy this jungle adventure as well!

Why I chose Shaw . . .

I like to switch things up.  Most of the time readers and reviewers focus on the 'Main' character.  Alot of times secondary characters or in this case the Male lead are intriguing and I just like to give them the chance to share their stories.

Such is the case with Shaw first of all he just oozes big strong and very nice to look at.  Nina is attracted to begin with because of his brooding countenance.  As they grow closer Nina see's how hurt and disillusioned he is.

Shaw is determined.  He fights his own demons; fights to keep Nina safe and get them both out of the jungle in one piece.

The first line . . .

Nina never imagined her life would end on a school bus.  Not a dilapidated bus filled to groaning, departing the soggy Guatemalan town of Solitar, three hours from the Mexican border.

And on page 56

Shaw speaking to Otto (plantation owner who hired Shaw to find bombs buried on his property) . . . 'Oh he agreed alright.  Nina was a magnet for trouble since he'd pulled her from the wreck.

Trending Topic #Murder by Sarah E. Burr-Great Escapes Tour/Review

 About the book

Meet 28-year-old celebrity blogger Coco Cline, who has started her own social media consulting company in her hometown of Central Shores, Delaware. Her new clients, Peter and Olivia Chen, are ten days away from the grand opening of their specialty consignment shop when Coco finds their store clerk Stacy dead behind the register.

Worried that a cloud of suspicion will ruin their chances of a successful business launch, the Chens ask Coco to work alongside the inexperienced, small-town police force to speed up the investigation. Using her celebrity status and social media savviness, Coco realizes Stacy’s seemingly ordinary life was all an act. Following a trail of cryptic online posts and muddied gossip, Coco and her friends discover Stacy’s questionable relationships just might be the reason for her untimely demise.

And I thought . . .

I enjoyed the refreshing new theme of this book.  The author gives us a younger main character that isn't broke and not recently widowed or divorced which seems to be the 'thing' for cozy mysteries.

I enjoyed everything about this new series and I look forward to reading the next one.

CoCo is a smart savvy bizness woman that turns into a pretty good sleuth when she has to clear her clients as murder suspects.

I can't say that I was interested in this book because of the cover.  Honestly if I was  shopping I would not have even picked it up which is a mistake.

Trending Topic #Murder was good fun read.  It was easy to like CoCo  (her nickname she dosen't like her real name) and her besties Jasper whom she's known since childhood  and  she became close friends after returning home from the city. With their help and connections CoCo solves the clues.

Sarah Burr gives the reader a great story with fun and sometimes funny characters.

I was engaged and turning the pages withe feelings wanting to finish the book and also hating for it to end.

I received a complimentary copy.

My review will appear on retail sites and Good Reads.

Killer Deadline by Lauren Carr

About the book
Folks in Pine Grove, Pennsylvania, claim that where Nikki Bryant goes, trouble is not far behind. Her refusal to back down from a challenge has made Nikki Bryant a top investigative journalist.

When an online friend nudges her to join him in a pact to reconnect with their first loves, Nikki and her boxer dog Elmo leave the bright lights of Las Vegas for the charming town of Pine Grove. There, she must face the biggest challenges in her career and life—the first love she had left behind and her father’s unsolved murder.

But before she has time to unpack her car, Nikki stumbles upon the dead body of local news anchor, Ashleigh Addison, her childhood rival. With the clues in her father’s cold case hot again, Nikki intends to chase down the story of her life until she catches his killer—no matter what it takes.

And I thought
I am always a fan of Lauren Carr.  I have enjoyed each book and each series that she has produced.  Some of the other series have a bit of a Cozy theme goin' on but they really aren't and now she's done it with Killer Deadline.
I enjoyed this new character Nikki she's a true cozy character with a history, a dog and a mystery to solve. And just maybe rekindling a romance.
But first she need to get to the truth about her fathers death.
I enjoy reading Killer Deadline when it was first released earlier this year.
I was fun to go back and now listen to it.  The audio version brought the story to life and I enjoyed this chance to have someone else read the story to me.
Audio books are not my first choice but by accepting the invitation to be on this tour I think I have developed a new interest.
I now enjoy listening to a book while doing other jobs and tasks especially if you have not time to read.
If you enjoy a good Cozy Mystery check out Killer Deadline

I received a complimentary copy.

A Sew Deadly Cruise by Lois Winston-Great Escapes Tour-Review

About the book
Life is looking up for magazine crafts editor Anastasia Pollack. Newly engaged, she and photojournalist fiancé Zack Barnes are on a winter cruise with her family, compliments of a Christmas gift from her half-brother-in-law. Son Alex’s girlfriend and her father have also joined them. Shortly after boarding the ship, Anastasia is approached by a man with an unusual interest in her engagement ring. When she tells Zack of her encounter, he suggests the man might be a jewel thief scouting for his next mark. But before Anastasia can point the man out to Zack, the would-be thief approaches him, revealing his true motivation. Long-buried secrets now threaten the well-being of everyone Anastasia holds dear. And that’s before the first dead body turns up.

Craft projects included.
And I thought
Sometimes covers 'GetMe' and this one did.  For main characters Anastasia and her fiancee Zack they are expecting a little romance. I mean who doesn't on a cruise.  Going on a cruise with the family might put a kink in the romance for Anastasia and Zack but her mom wastes no time hitting the gaming tables and finding a possible new "Daddy"  I lost count what # Momma is on. She tends to 'Out Live' her husband's.
And then there are few dead bodies but Anastasia is kind of used to having to solve murders.
It gets a little 'Hairy' being stuck on a cruise ship while a murderer is in the midst
Anastasia and Zack get to work together to figure just what is up and solve the crimes and get everyone back safely home.
I have read a few books in this series and enjoyed each one.
A new reader will enjoy each page and become a new fan.

I received a complimentary copy.
My review will appear on retail sites and Good Reads.

The Killer Outdoors by Jodi Linton-Great Escapes Tours-Review/Giveaway

About the book Tourist season has hit Bushwhack and Andie Sullivan–owner of Sullivan’s Adventure Company–is ready for her town to fill up with city slickers, snotty teens, and the dollars she needs to keep her business afloat after her messy divorce from Bucky Gunn–local celebrity rafting guide and Sullivan’s main competition. With all her guided tours booked, it finally seems lady luck is on her side.

But then Bucky is found dead. Not great.

And she’s the prime murder suspect. Double not great.

Being framed for murder sucks worse than a rabid chipmunk bite. Andie’s determined to clear her name, and this time her survival training skills won’t be used to fetch an ice pack. But how long can she stay one step ahead of a killer before she becomes the final victim?

And I thought

Author Jodi Linto had me intrigued with a town called

Bushwack and a main character that runs an Adventure Company.  I liked the idea and I could sense we would be getting something new.  Not the same 'ole settings that seem to be going around the Cozy world.

Cozy isn't going around much for main character Andie at least not since her ex  Bucky gets 'Whacked' in Bushwask.

I suspected we might find a little humor thrown in and a giggle or two and I wasn't disappointed.   A good mystery to solve, lot's of questions to be answered and a bit of Romance.

I loved the cover on this one (I don't always like Cozy covers that are corny).  The illustrator gave a few clues without making the cover silly.

I enjoyed the characters and the fast paced ride that kept me interested and turning the pages.

The Killer Outdoors is a great start to a new series.  I can't wait to read the next one.   BTW I'm rootin' for the Sheriff but I'm giving nothing away you'll have to read this one yourself.

I received a complimentary copy.  My review will appear on Amazon and Good Reads.

The Killer Outdoors and the Great Escapes Tour will be promoted on Social Media.

A Waffle Lot Of Murder by Lena Gregory-Great Escapes Tour-Review

About the book
For diner owner Gia Morelli, her seasonal fall menu calls for two main ingredients—maple syrup and murder . . .

While the first hints of autumn grace Boggy Creek, Florida, Gia misses the colorful harvest traditions she left behind in New York. On a scramble to make new fall memories—and promote her irresistible pumpkin spice waffles—things take a dark turn when she gets roped into the Haunted Town Festival, a spooky celebration held on deserted farmlands. The desolate area conjures plenty of eerie vibes at night, but Gia and her best friend, Savannah, are nearly frightened to death upon the discovery of the event organizer’s body buried in the nearby woods. More alarming, the local rumor mill says the woman’s shady dealings may have egged someone into sending her to an early grave. Now, there’s no shortage of creepy clues to feast on as Gia and her pals try to stop a killer with a very scary appetite . . .
Includes recipes from the All-Day Breakfast Café!
And I thought
I have read a few of the books in this series and have enjoyed each one.
I like the Diner feel and the recipes at the end.  It is easy to
get attached to the regular Diners as Gia does.
Even though this one is set around Halloween it is still a Good 'Ole Cozy Mystery.
Gia and her Bestie Savannah are always stumbling onto murder victims.  And then the circumstances cause Gia to sleuth out the answers.
The cover beckons the readere to check it out and turn the pages.
The story takes place at Halloween but this one is a Cozy Mystery that if you love cozies you want to add this one to your TBR list.

I reiceived a complimentary copy.
