Lavender and Lies by Carly Winter My Review

 

About the book 

Hiding her true identity is difficult… but not as hard as catching a killer.

As Samantha Jones, a former daytime television star, tries to assimilate into the small community of Heywood, her life is upended when her friend, Gina, is arrested for murdering her abusive ex-husband. Even though every shred of evidence points at Gina being the true killer, Sam can’t believe her friend would murder one of the most hated men in town. As her search for the real killer eventually peters out and Sam’s ready to declare Gina guilty, a turn of events leads her down an unexpected path.

But will this path lead Sam to the real killer, or will an innocent person rot in prison for the rest of her life? 

And I thought 

One of those you just can not put down. 

Forget the housework. 

Forget cooking. 

All those forgets till you turn that last page. 

And there is the let down.  But not in a bad way.  Especially since there are others in the series to read. 

Speaking of more in the series. 

Boy was there a teaser in the epilogue. 

Now I am not sure if I should go back book to one or jump in to the next one. 

But I digress. 

I loved this book. 

I hate to make others mad but it is the best book I have read in a long time! 

It is super easy to write a review. 

One thing I like best is I still remember most of the characters names. 

Many times I have to go back and look up sub characters names when I am writing a review.  

I have even had to double check main characters name a time or two. 

Carly Winter just seems to make you fall in love with them all. 

Sam is just like able she is  good honest.  A good friend. A bit introverted because of her past.  And afraid of love. 

But Jordan the police detective which Sam describes as George Clooney (when she's not mad at him.) is a good cop.   Honest.  Friendly. Cares about the residents.  He shares his private phone number with elderly residents.  

The reader meets several sub characters es Sam ends up trying to to find the killer to keep her good friend Gina from going to jail. 

The are more than a few chuckles along the way. Like when Sam and her partner Annabelle try to do a little snooping.  

Eventually Sam and Jordan solve the mystery and leave the reader waiting to read the next book in the series.  

And now this reader gets to decide which 1 to read next.
