About the book
Homicide Detective Cameron Gates learned long ago that there is no such thing as a typical murder case. Each mystery is special in its own right—especially for the family of the victim. The homicide of a successful executive, husband, and father seems open and shut when the murder weapon is found in his estranged son-in-law’s possession. The circumstantial evidence is so damning that when her step-son, J.J. Thornton, agrees to act as the defendant’s public defender, he assumes his first murder case will be a loss. Only the report of a missing husband proves that this case is not as open and shut as it seems. Strap on your seat belts for a wild ride in this mystery rooted in decades of deception that sprouts into murder.

And I thought
The Lover's In Crime series is quickly becoming a favorite.
The Root Of Murder is book 4.  Each book includes a cast of characters and  is written as a stand alone.

The main characters in the series the Thornton family are great.
They are fun and funny, smart and savvy and just truly good and honesty people.

Author Lauren Carr does not give the reader a simply mystery.
Carr gives the reader much more with more than one story line running through where crimes intersect and makes for a thrilling roller coaster ride.

Don't think you'll easily figure out who dun it because there are too many who dun it's to make it simple.

There are no open and shut cases in this one.

As Cameron and her new partner begin investigating one murder a prominent father in town.  Another father 'goes missing'.   As
the investigation continues dark family secrets and odd relationships take you on a fast paced ride.

The Root Of Murder is another great read in the Lover's In Crime series.
