Spring Upon a Crime by ML Erdahl -Great Escapes Tour Review/: Giveaway
About the book
Wilderness guide Crystal Rainey leads a group of college students to a private campground amidst the awe-inspiring Olympic Rain Forest. The excursion is ruined when the charming hostess Roxie is discovered standing over the land owner’s body, murder weapon in hand.
Enlisted to investigate the crime to absolve her friend, Crystal descends on the quiet city of Forks to find loggers, developers, and eco-protesters circling the property, intent on either exploiting or protecting the bastion of old-growth forest. The list of suspects is intimidating. Can Crystal find answers in a community determined to keep her in the dark?
And I thought
I love to stumble onto new Authors. And new series.
Series books become really good Reads when you can Journey along with characters on thier adventures.
Spring Upon A Crime is the second book in the series. But it was easy to get into since it is written as a stand alone.
I loved the characters and loved the setting around a National Park.
There is a bit of humor and a lot of questions to be answered before the end.
The cover drew me in. I like a good cover that gives the reader a peak into the story without being too whimsical.
I enjoyed Spring Upon A Crime and plan to read more in this series.
I received a complimentary copy.

The Heritage Heist by Dianne Ascroft Great Escapes Tour Review
About the book
A fall fair, a cornered craftsman, an heirloom heist. When an antique quilt that is a cherished part of Fenwater’s past disappears from the market before her town’s fall fair, it’s up to Lois to resolve the quilt quandary.
Middle-aged widow Lois is enjoying her second season in her new town and her century house, away from the dangers of big city life in Toronto. She can’t wait to experience her first old-fashioned fall fair, complete with hot apple cider. But when the local market is burgled, her enthusiasm for the upcoming festival plummets. During the break-in one of the security guards is badly injured and an antique quilt, on loan from the museum, vanishes. Her friend, Bruce, designed and built the display case and has one of only two keys to secure it. That makes him a prime suspect in the theft. Lois won’t let Bruce’s reputation, nor the trust his customers have in the bespoke furniture maker, be damaged by the allegation. She’s determined to piece the clues together to find the quilt, clear Bruce’s name and save a piece of Fenwater’s history.
And so begins a week of deepening friendships, hot apple cider, calico cats, backseat shenanigans, hazy housemates, and few puzzle pieces to work with, set against the backdrop of a rustic market building amidst stately stone architecture, the crackle of flames in the hearth, a blaze of colour on leafy residential streets and the scintillating scent of cinnamon.
The Century Cottage Cozy Mystery series is set in rural Ontario, Canada during the early 1980s.
A tale for fans of Cindy Bell, Leighann Dobbs, Dianne Harman and Kathi Daley.
And I thought . . .
What a charming read with a bit of Who did it?
I was so charmed because this one brought back memories of my beginning quilt days.
And remember quilts going missing from fairs and shows.
Author Diane Ashcroft spins a tale full of fun characters and lots of festival fun things go awry.
Heritage Heist is book 2 in a fun series.
I received complimentary copy.

On The Road with Author Debra Parmley Featuring Check Out
Thank you Debra for joining us again today to share little back story about the book!
Check Out is set in the town I have called home for the last 23 years. Bartlett, TN.
In Check Out the heroine is a Bartlett librarian named Betsy who has a younger sister named Leann. One year I was attending Book Stock, which is an annual book signing event that raises funds for the Memphis and Shelby County library system of which the Bartlett Library is a part. The organizer came up to my table and said, "Did you know Bartlett has a librarian named Leann?"
Well, as it turns out, the Bartlett library has had three librarians named Leann. I think with this many Leann's it was inevitable that a Leann would make it into the book. Perhaps these things happen subconsciously with authors or perhaps our imaginations tap into something that is meant to be in our books.
In Check Out, Betsy and Nash go on their first date to a Vietnamese restaurant named Saigon Lee (which used to be one of my favorite restaurants) and their date is interrupted by a frightened phone call from Leann.
Since the book came out, Saigon Lee burnt down and was not reopened. I was teaching a writing workshop locally when one of my out of town students told me they went to Saigon Lee for dinner the night before only to find it had burnt down. So I now include a note in the back of the books to give my readers a heads up in case they plan to go looking for it.
The Electric Cowboy where Betsy and Leann and Nash and his veteran buddies go country line dancing has changed its name, but the Bartlett, TN library is still in operation and you can still get a slice of pizza at Midtown Pizza.
Check Out was written for a military romance anthology my third publisher, Secret Cravings was putting out, but the publisher closed before the book was released. There I was with an edited book ready to go. This was one of the things that nudged me to open my own small boutique publishing company, Belo Dia Publishing Incorporated.

Check Out by Debra Parmley On The Road Spotlight Post
About the book
When Nash, a Marine returning home with an injury, who is rebuilding his life, walks into the library where shy librarian Betsy Bobbin works, she’s intimidated by the handsome man who wears an eye patch and an attitude. But when her car has a flat in the library parking lot as she’s leaving work during a winter storm, the mysterious Marine comes to her rescue.
He comes to her rescue again when Betsy and her less mature younger sister Leann have trouble at a local country western bar with a drunk who won’t leave Leann alone. But the fight outside the bar between an angry Nash and the drunk frightens Betsy. She’s fallen for the recovering war veteran, but is it safe to fall for a man with PTSD? Betsy is torn. Will love and trust win out over her fear before it is too late?
Nash has found the girl of his dreams, but his wounds run deep. His ex-fiancé was repulsed by his eye patch and his scars, and manufactured drama like bees do honey. He’s sworn off of women and their drama and is keeping his focus on restoring a one hundredth anniversary 2003 Harley Davidson Road King and on the college classes he is taking. Meeting Betsy at the library, he’s drawn to the sweet, shy librarian and she brings out his protective instincts. If only her sister would stop getting in the way.
Real drama surrounds Betsy, when a stalker comes after her sister Leann. The girls learn that stalking is a real problem on college campuses when Leann’s tutor stalks her. When Leann's college stalker shows up in town Betsy again turns to Nash.
This military romance with a touch of suspense features a Marine veteran hero with PTSD, a shy college librarian heroine, her younger less mature sister and a college campus stalker.

18 1/2 Disguises by Larissa Reinhart Great Escape Tours Book Review/Giveaway
About the book
MAIZIE’S AFTER A COSTUMER’S KILLER WHO’S SEW EVIL, IT’S SHEAR MADNESS…
#DisguisedDetectiving Maizie Albright might have once played a (teenage) private investigator on TV, but she’s now living the part. Her (mother’s) name is on her business cards. Her (boss’s) appointment book is brimming with new clients. And her bank account has grown large enough to finally trade in her dirt bike for an actual new (pre-owned) vehicle.
And then there’s Wyatt Nash. Love of her life. Future father of her…
Wait.
And then there’s Wyatt Nash. Future partner in her business. Because Nash is now working for her father. Not the private investigation business that’s waiting for Nash to get out of the red so they can get on with…
Just what, Maizie isn’t so sure.
But she is sure about one thing. She’s ready to take on her own cases. To prove to (herself) her friends and family, she’s more than just a (washed-up actress) assistant private eye. And when Maizie finds her costume designer friend killed during a masquerade gala, it’s the opportunity Maizie hoped she’d never get. An investigation into an old friend’s murder. One that’s put her new friend, Rhonda, in jeopardy.
While the police begin their inquiries, Maizie starts her own case. She’s needling Black Pine’s wealthy do-gooders, threading through lies, stitching together clues, and ripping out false leads. Her investigation may cost Maizie her job, her relationships, and her life. But by unspooling the truth, Maizie’s darned if they stop her from catching a killer who’s sew evil, it’s shear madness.
And I thought . . .
I've enjoyed this series. I have had the chance to read several in this series of 7.
The series is filled with an interesting mix of characters. Some charming. Some not so much. And some down right 'mean'.
Nash and Maizie have a budding kind of maybe sort of romance. I think. But I guess we'll have to wait and see.
Maize is a fun character that is on the ball trying to figure out and navigate investigations.
She's growing and getting better at what she does.
This series has been fun and I am looking forward to the next one.
I received a complimentary copy.

The Hiker's Guide To Murder by Jodi Linton Great Escapes Tour
About the book
Hiking the Kindling National Forest is a birthday tradition for the Sullivan siblings—pitching camp, roasting s’mores… a dead body? Not exactly the fun party outdoor guide Andie Sullivan planned for her brother, Kyle. Welp.
When the body is identified as a local who worked at the parks department, Andie decides to put her clue-solving skills to use. Winter tourism is at stake, and if word gets out that Bushwhack has another killer on the loose, she can kiss that sweet revenue goodbye.
Easier said than done. Meanwhile, Sheriff Zac Mars is neck and neck with her on uncovering clues, proving solving the latest murder in town is harder than powering through a mountain bike tour on an energy bar breakfast. Racing against the clock, Andie must uncover evidence to make her mountain community safe for ski bunnies. But as one new plot twist turns into another dead body, Andie learns not everyone likes meddling civilian sleuths. If she’s not fast enough, the killer may find her before she finds them.
And I thought
A page turner. I enjoyed getting into this series.
I enjoyed the characters.
Andie handles the twists and turns and bodies showing up at almost every turn with savvy digging up clues in a bit of a race with the Sheriff.
The banter between Kyle and Andie gave this reader a warm feeling.
I enjoyed the plot. It was a fun ride along with Andie as she looked for clues and annoyed the Sheriff.
The tension between Sheriff Zack and Andie kept this reader hoping they got together. Do they? You'll have to check it out!
I enjoyed my introduction to The Southern Exposure Series. I'll be going back to read book 1 while I wait for book 3.

Can these newlyweds net the real killer before Elizabeth is jailed for murder
Fish Out of Water is the charming first book in the Ozarks Lake Mystery series. If you like quirky characters, clever twists and turns, and puzzling whodunits, then you’ll love Marc Jedel’s humorous tale.
Buy Fish Out of Water to reel in a slippery catch today
And I thought . . .
When I heard about fish Out of Water I knew I would like it but I wondered if this newish author would pull it off.
I have read the previous series Silicon Valley.
And so I hoped that this one would have the same feel good quality and suspected a few chuckles, an interesting mystery to solve and some fun characters.
Pulling it off was a cup of tea for author Marc Jadel.
Silly me
Fish Out of Water had the same Cozy vibe and contains a unique mystery(s) to solve and a wonderful cast of characters that keep you engaged while you turn the pages.
I loved the Arkansas small town setting. The little town of Jenkins has a Mayberry feel with a couple old codgers that sit on the bench outside the town grocery store. They might have a good lunch suggestion for the new in town. They solve world problems while keeping their eye on the locals so they can be all up in everybody's business.
Which is good for Jonas when their chit chat brings to light a possible suspect that might get his wife off the hook and the suspect list.
I enjoyed all the colorful quirky your characters.
Marc Jadel not only gives the reader great quirky characters but a strong well written storyline makes for a great read.
No spoilers here but Jonas and Ellie end up stayin' in Jenkins with all thier fun new friends.
I am wondering what mystery or world problem might be solved on that bench next time.

His To Rescue by Jewell Allen - Book Review
About the book
Just one date, and she never has to see him again.
Lake Powell Fire's rescue specialist Weston Hawk and local veterinarian Lacey Chang get along about as well as cats and dogs. It kills him because he's got a huge crush on her. When he performs a heroic act that softens her attitude toward him, she asks for his help setting up a service project in his hometown. He agrees, on one condition--that she go on a date with him.
Lacey should just shut the pesky firefighter down. She couldn't see herself having a future with her nemesis. But she needs Weston's help. She agrees to ONE date. Nothing else. No late-night calls, no sweet text messages, no lovely flowers, no fun flirting. No stopping by the clinic to check their fire extinguishers. And definitely no adopting a pet just to have an excuse to see her.
Finally, they go out, and . . . oh boy, are they in big trouble. Because no matter how amazing the date was, they made a pact, and she's not about to let him go back on his word.
Another clean and swoon-worthy book in the Lake Powell Firefighter Romance series. They are standalones.
1. His to Protect (Gage & Maya)
2. His to Defend (Stratton & Kennedy)
3. His to Rescue (Weston & Lacey)
4. His to Comfort (Ransom & Meredith)
5. His to Hold (Hunter & Allie)
6. His to Shelter
And I thought . . .
Author Jewell Allen had me at the first line of the discripton . . .
Just one date, and she never has to see him again.
I loved every page of this charming romance.
I expected to be charmed and I was from page one. The banter and Romantic tension begins right from the start or should I say starting line?
Weston and Lacey happen upon each other at a red light leaving town. The two can't help annoying each other and getting into a bit of trouble ending up doing community service.
Don't think it's the same ole plot you've read before. They don't do C. Spilling no beans.
The main characters Weston and Lacey are grabbed my heart. They are just fun people even though the each have some drama that they have to deal with.
The Author tackles so hard topics including caring for the elderly and family drama and the plight of the American Indian with grace.
I have to mention the cover because this one just didn't 'get Me' honestly had I not known the Author I might not have picked it up.
But I am glad I did. I am learning once again I can't judge a book by it's cover.
This was my first chance to read a book from this series. I have a few more to add to my wish list.
I received a complimentary copy.
My review will appear on Amazon and Good Reads.

Egg Shooter's By Laura Child's Great Escapes Tour Review
About the book
A murder in the local hospital is raising everyone’s temperature in the latest book in the New York Times bestselling Cackleberry Club series.
Suzanne Dietz co-owner of the Cackleberry Club Café is visiting her fiancée, Dr. Sam Hazelet when a masked gunman bursts into the emergency room. He shoots two people and would probably have done more damage had Suzanne not brained him with a thermos full of chili. Still, the gunman manages to escape.
Now the ladies of the Cackleberry Club are determined to find the killer before he finds them.
And I thought
Page one will draw you in. Egg Shooter's by Laura Childs is part of a great series filled with a cast of feel good Characters.
Suzanne, Toni and Petra run the local cafe/diner/tea shop.
The menu that Petra prepares had me struggling not to turn to the end to see what recipe delights the author shared.
The rest of cast of Characters are all charming well most of them. Toni doesn't like mayor so much or her almost maybe not ex.
The story is full of twists that keep you turning the pages while Suzanne tried to figure who the man in black is without becoming his victim.
I really liked the ending.
I always enjoy books by Laura Childs.

Book Spotlight/Excerpt Sabotaged Christmas by Carole Brown
Sabotaged Christmas
Book One
The Appleton, WV Romantic Mysteries
by Carole Brown
Chapter One
Antonietta DeLuca’s glance probed the dark shadows in the front yard of the Wisecup job. The streetlight lit up the orange-leafed maple tree, setting it on fire. The tree limbs dipped and swayed to the whispering music from the autumn wind. Fallen leaves crackled to the left of the empty house she faced. Something moved, and Toni shifted to stare at the spot. With a screech, two cats shot past her and crossed the street, yowling like demons in the night. Hands shaking, Toni glared at the scattering offenders and leaned against the mailbox, dragging in deep breaths.
She shouldn’t have come by herself, but she’d never worried about that before. Her supervisor had begged her to avoid lonely places by herself. Yet she’d needed to do the final inspection of the repairs before signing off on one of their last big projects of the year. With Christmas coming and a long winter ahead, that meant money in her pocket and her employees’ pockets.
Drawing in another deep breath, she started up the sidewalk and pulled from her pocket the key to the house. The lock clicked, and a faint, far-off shuffle brushed against her senses. Head cocked, she listened. Had that sound come from inside the house? Her lips whispered a prayer even as she twisted the knob and gave the door the slightest push.
Down the long hallway a light bounced from one of the side rooms.
Bounced?
A candle? No, a flashlight. Someone was in this house.
