Boarding With Murder by Kathryn Long Great Escapes Tour

About the book

Take one quaint B&B, two kind but quirky caretakers, a dead aunt, a murdered friend, and you have mystery. Ali Winston finds she’s inherited trouble along with her aunt’s B&B, but can she reveal the killer before the curtain closes?

And I thought

What a fun read!  The Cozy  and Charming Mountain B&B seemed like a place I would visit.  The Author made me feel like I  was actually there.

Sierra Pines

I love old movies.  Errol Flynn is always a favorite.

I loved the characters.  Some fun. Some quirky. And sweet.

I love a good Cozy with fun and witty characters. And a little Romance along with the Sleuthing.

This new series is new favorite.

Author Chat feat. Dana Mentink

Hello and Welcome to the new weekly Feature here at the blog!

I am so excited to share with you Author Interviews!

To start things off I've asked an author that I like to call a Friend.  I met Dana back 2016 when I hopped on a Litfuse tour Featuring her Rom Com Sit, Stay Love. Click Here

I really enjoyed her book and really wanted to read more.  And then I found our she writes Romantic Suspense!  I have kept hoping for a chance to  read one!

Last summer I invited Dana to Feature Sit, Stay, Love on my first Dog Days of Summer Tour  I was so surprised when she accepted the invitation! I mean golly gee she is a famous Author!  You can read the post over Here

I can honestly say that Dana  joining me on that tour was confirmation that my desire to promote Good, Clean books was and is a dream that God put on my heart and my endeavors are Blessed.

And so without further Ado let's Chat with Dana ...

Do you have a furry friend that keeps you company or is your  office assistant?

My furry friend who assists me in all writing endeavors is Junie the Wonder Dog. She's ten pounds of trouble in a fur coat!

What is your favorite snack while your writing?

I try not to snack while writing, because I'm writing all the time, but I really enjoy this chocolate pudding I made with no sugar and coconut milk.

Can you share your typical day schedule?

I get up extremely early to write and I forge ahead until about 3:00 in the afternoon, interrupted by walks, chores and parenting duties.

I am a quilter and as such we have several projects going on. Do you

typically have more than project in the works?

I always have more than one project going because I write two genres, inspy suspense and mystery.

What state in the U.S. would you like to visit to research for a book?

I am so looking forward to returning to Alaska for more research!

Choose one place to write . . .A secluded island.  A cabin in the woods or a busy city?

I suppose suppose I would love to write in a cabin...but not TOO secluded. I've written too many stories about bad things happening to people when they are too far away from help!

Which book  is your favorite and why?

Which book is my favorite?

Acckk! Usually the one I'm writing. I have always had a soft spot for Sit, Stay, Love since the inspiration for the dog was an actual canine rescued and rehomed by Muttville, a senior dog rescue here in San Francisco.

Thank you Dana for chatting with me today!  It is always fun to get together!

I'm so excited to share the book cover and blurb for TROUBLE BREWING, Book 5 in the Barks & Beans Cafe series! This Halloween mystery is going to be SO much fun to write, since it's based around a REAL story of the "Greenbrier ghost"--a tale that happened near my neck o'the woods here in West Virginia.

TROUBLE BREWING:

BOOK FIVE in the BARKS & BEANS CAFE cozy mystery series!!

Welcome to the Barks & Beans Cafe, a quaint place where folks pet shelter dogs while enjoying a cup of java...and where murder sometimes pays a visit.

Convinced that the elderly lady in her care didn't die of natural causes, Macy's friend Della determines to look into the broken relationships surrounding the woman. She books a Halloween-themed getaway at a local inn and talks Macy into coming along with her to spy on her prime suspect.

As they join a ghost tour of the candlelit town, Macy and Della feel their guide is a little too fanatical as he shares his spooky tales. He tells the story of the Greenbrier ghost, a newlywed who supposedly came back from the grave to tell her family that her husband murdered her.

When a disturbing apparition makes its presence known, guests at the inn become apprehensive...and for good reason, because soon after, a young bride turns up dead. Although everything points to a copycat killer replicating the historical Greenbrier murder, Macy has her doubts. She's discovered that the inn harbors secrets of its own, and when she pokes into one darkened corner too many, she might not stand a ghost of a chance.

Fun from the very first page! Piper and Samantha make a dynamic duo as they run their bakery making wonderful goodies . . . Well written, captivating, and fun what more can you want. Perfect for cozy fans.

~Books a Plenty Book Reviews

To me, this is a unique cozy that addresses some heavy topics – mainly human trafficking. I have to give the author major points for coving a heavy issue in this book and I definitely appreciated the information that was shared in relation to a friend of Piper’s from when she was younger.

~Storeybook Reviews

With the right amount of chocolate, mystery and a tinge of romance, this book is a must-read, especially if you are a cozy mystery fan.

~The Book Decoder

This is a wonderful clean cozy mystery that includes mystery, romance, humour and characters you can connect to, and I look forward to reading more from out baking duo Piper and Sam.

The Wedding Rescue A Short Story by Jenna Brandt

About the book

A search and rescue firefighter is a groomsman, one of the bridesmaids is avoiding him, and a storm causes them to get stuck together at the wedding…

Firefighter Derik Cruise used to have a woman to love, but he had to move to pursue his dream of being a K9 handler at an elite search and rescue force. Now, he’s been asked to be a groomsmen at a wedding where she’s going to be a bridesmaid. The moment he sees her, he realizes he still loves her, but all she does is avoid him.

Aspen Sinclair’s heart was broken by a man who picked a badge over her. She’s avoided dating ever since, not wanting to take another risk. She thought she built up enough walls to keep from getting hurt again, but when Derik walks back into her life, she realizes she never got over him.

In this short story, will he be able to tear down the walls around her heart? Can she let go of the past to make room for a new future? And will they survive the storm raging all around them?

Step into the world of Disaster City Search and Rescue, where officers, firefighters, military, and medics, train and work alongside each other with the dogs they love, to do the most dangerous job of all — help lost and injured victims find their way home.

And I thought

A great super quick read.  This one was a page turner.  It was hard to put it down last night.

Since it was short though reading in two settings made it last longer.

I loved the characters and the Texas locale.

There are alot of Characters.  And a big wedding party. Including the Search and Rescue dogs who were hero's in the end.

There was a bit humor as the Bride was secretly trying to set up  Derik and Aspen not realizing they were Exe's.

It worked out in Derik's favor as it helped him show Aspen he had changed over the years since they had broken up.

After a bit of great on the edge of your seat suspense everything ended Happily Ever After.

That makes a Great Sweet Romance.

I received a complimentary copy.

Busting Out by Diane Kelly Book My Review

About the book
Buxom motorcycle cop Chastity “Cha-Cha” Rinaldi has a tough reputation to live up to. On her first day as a rookie for the Mobile, Alabama police department, Cha-Cha pulled over a pickup hauling a trailer with a busted taillight, and unwittingly stumbled upon an international human smuggling ring. But now, the three creeps she put behind bars have busted out of prison. Have they fled the country, or could they be coming for her as they’d vowed upon receiving their life sentences?

A traffic stop puts Cha-Cha face-to-face with high school physics teacher Newton Isaac. Cha-Cha can’t imagine herself with the geeky yet undeniably appealing guy. After all, he’s her polar opposite. Still, he's a welcome distraction from her woes, and she finds herself inexplicably drawn to him, as if by some unseen super-magnetic force pulling on her underwire bra.

Is Cha-Cha destined to pose a one-woman defense against three violent brutes, or might Newt prove to be her nerd in shining armor?

And I thought . . .
I looked forward to reading another book by Author Diane Kelly I had the opportunity to read Bending The Paw a series set in Fort Worth my hometown.

I was excited when the Author provided me a copy of Busting Out as part of my On The Road series taking the blog to Mobile, Alabama.

Busting Out was a page turner.  Sometimes you just want to read a book that grabs your interest ...
Well I guess you always do but for me it doesn't always happen.

But Cha Cha had me at page 1 it was one of those page turners I didn't want to put down.

I enjoyed the chuckles. The storyline kept me interested.

I didn't like the bad guys cuz they were just mean and they just wouldn't give up.  It  was a bit ridiculous the effort and the means they took to 'get' Cha Cha but it was funny and kept me wondering what next. The were a bit like the "Energizer Bunny".
At least untill Newton and Cha Cha get ahold of them.

The budding Romance between Cha Cha and a teacher she met on a traffic stop soon went full on 'Love of thier lives'.

Cha Cha and Newton became a great team in finally catching the bad guys.

Busting Out was a great read and I can't wait to read more books by Diane Kelly.

I received a complimentary copy.

My review will appear on Amazon and Good Reads.

On The Road Chatting with Author Diane Kelly

For my readers.  This was a super fun series to promote.

The Interview with Author Diane Kelly was fun because she has lived in my hometown.

Enjoy!

Let's chat with Diane

Hello Diane.  Thanks for visiting with us today!

Thank you for having me.  I always enjoy chatting!

Well let's get into some fun questions.

What is your favorite snack while writing?

Wasabi peas. The kick definitely keeps me feeling awake!

Do you have a pet office assistant?

Several. I move around the house while I work, spending 2-3 hours in one spot before going on to another. When I'm writing from bed or the chaise lounge in my home office, my calico Shakira is always by my side and my orange-and-ginger cat Fritz does his best to get in my way by lying on me or my computer. When I'm working in the living room or on the back deck, my dogs hang out at my feet.

You've just written The End. How do you celebrate?

Pre-virus, I'd go out for a nice meal. Now, I usually treat myself to a day or two off from working and binge-watch movies or TV shows (and catch up on neglected housework).

What do you do when you're not writing? Hobbies?

I enjoy walking my dogs and get lots of story ideas while puttering along with them. Our area has great places to hike, so we often go out on the trails. I also love to ski and ice skate, though I'm not that great at either one. I'm definitely not a daredevil! I'm lucky that there's a skating rink in our town so I don't have to drive far to get to a rink. I enjoy gardening, too, but I don't have much luck at it. We live in North Carolina where the tall trees block the sun for most of the day, so we don't have a nice sunny spot for a successful vegetable garden. My hydrangeas and lantana have done very well, though!

About The Busting Out series . . . How many books in the series? Locale?

This is a loosely connected series based on the fact that each book has a similar concept - a buxom motorcycle cop. Each book features a different female officer, in a different location. The first book, Busted, is set in a fictional small town in north Texas. The second, Another Big Bust, is set in the Raleigh-Durham area, where I live now. The third, Busting Out, is set in Mobile, Alabama.

How did you choose the Locales?

I chose north Texas for the first book because the area was my home at the time I wrote it and felt familiar to me. I found the small towns along the country roads to be charming. I set the second book in the Raleigh-Durham area of North Carolina, where I live now. The tall trees are absolutely gorgeous, and the roads outside the city are scenic places to take a drive. I don't ride a motorcycle, but I can imagine how fun it would be to take one along the county roads. I set the third book in Mobile, Alabama because I thought it would be fun to set a story in a seaside city. I lived in Montgomery for a year when I was young, and my family was very happy there. Alabama has a slower pace than many other places, and feels very homey. It truly is a "sweet home."

Aren't the books about different characters? Will they ever meet?

Yes, each book features a different female motorcycle cop. Busted stars Marnie Muckleroy, who is recently divorced and moved back to her small hometown in Texas after going through a traumatic on-duty event in Dallas. Another Big Bust features Shae Sharpe, who has some unresolved family issues to deal with.

The heroine in Busting Out is Chastity "Cha-Cha" Rinaldi, who comes from a law enforcement family. I'd never thought of having them meet, but it's a fun idea! I know they'd like each other and have a lot to share. They could even go for a ride on their motorcycles together.

Do you have a favorite character from the series?

Oooh, that's a hard one. I guess if I had to pick one, it would be Marnie Muckleroy. Her book is the longest, so I got to know her better. She was the first character I wrote who had a dark past to deal with, and it made the writing interesting to dig a little deeper emotionally.

I chose to feature this series after I read Bending The Paws. I loved the Ft. Worth

location. How many books in the series? Will there be more?

There are 9 books in the Paw Enforcement series, as well as two digital-only novellas. I'm hoping to write one more to tie up some loose ends, but I'll have to figure out when I'd have time to write it, which will be tricky. I'm doing three books a year for my traditional publishers, and that keeps me on a tight schedule.

About Fort Worth. Favorite place to shop?

Favorite place to eat. I'll share mine. Mexican Inn and I love El Rancho Grande.

My favorite places to shop were the garden stores. We had a good one in our suburb that had a resident cat who would hang around. You never knew where he might show up while you were checking out the plants. My favorite place for Mexican food would be Chuy's or Joe T. Garcia's, which is mentioned in my Paw Enforcement series when my cop and her boyfriend-to-be go on their first date there after meeting at the site of an explosion. I also liked several of the Japanese restaurants where they cook right at your table and put on a show.

Last one. Can you give us a sneak peek of what you're working on?

I'm wrapping up the first draft of book #1 in my new Mountain Lodge Mysteries series. It's called Getaway with Murder, and has an absolutely adorable cover. There's a cat, of course, a fluffy white diva named Baroness Blizzard or Yeti for short. It's been so much fun developing these new characters! Misty Murphy has just turned 50 and gotten divorced, and is starting on Act Two of her life by buying a lodge in the Blue Ridge Mountains. There's lots of fun new beginnings for her as she sets out on her own.

Thanks Diane for visiting.  I know we will get together again!

Thanks, Sherry! Greatest questions!

Blind Date with a Billionaire Reality Star Evangeline Kelly

About the book

Competing for a date with a handsome billionaire goes against everything she believes in, but she has no choice.

Five years ago, when Karlie Spencer found out her parents died in a plane crash, she quit college and rushed home to care for her two siblings. They became her priority, leaving no time for a relationship.

After losing her job, she auditions for a dating reality show and saw it only as a means of income until she found other work. She didn't count on falling for the billionaire bachelor, but when she looked beyond his arrogant demeanor, she saw a lonely man, hiding from pain.

A horrible accident haunted Drake Arnold, making him look to the show as a distraction from thoughts that plagued him. He had no intention of getting into a real relationship with anyone, but then he met Karlie. It wasn’t until his feelings ran deep that he suddenly realized...she might not be able to accept his past.

Can he push through the pain to find a future with Karlie? Or will they both walk away at the end, knowing it was never meant to go anywhere?

*This is a contemporary Christian story with strong Biblical themes and Bible references.

And I thought

There is sooo much to say about this book.

It has to be the best Romance that I have read in a long time!

The characters are fun, nice, kind.  Well most of them. I didn't like the Reality Show execs.

And the storyline is just a good read!  It is kind of a Cinderella story with a twist.

Drake the super hunky Billionaire isn't looking for a relationship.  When he is approached by a friend to do a reality show he immediately says No! With an exclamation point!  But as the concept  of the show is presented to him he begins to think that there might be a chance he could just get through the next few months.  All he had to do was keep his heart in tact and choose a date. Piece of cake.

And then there's Karlie when the idea is pitched to her by her bestie she is quick to say a resounding No!!!? With several eXclamation marks.  But then she gets 'fired'.

With teenager siblings to provide for Karlie realizes that getting on the show will help her with finances till she can get a good job.

Not intending to 'Fall' for each other Drake and Karlie start the competition trying to stay away from each other.

But then Karlie crams a Rice Krispie treat into Drake's mouth and all thier plans go awry.

I really enjoyed the cooking scenes.

And, there was a fairy tale ending

Author Evangeline Kelly pens a Sweet Romance suitable for any audience.

Meet The Characters feat Busting Out by Author Diane Kelly

Hello.  Welcome back to

On The Road

This week I am Featuring Author Diane Kelly and her book Busting Out

Let's meet the characters . . .

Officer Chastity "Cha-Cha" Rinaldi is a bold and buxom motorcycle cop with the Mobile, Alabama police department. She might be tough, but she's got a girlie side, too.

Newton Isaac is a high school physics teacher and faculty advisor for the school's robotics club. He's a hot geek who's beloved by his students and makes science fun.

Billy Wayne Almstead, Trent Bosch, and Daytona Dickerson are the bad guys Cha-Cha pulled over on her first traffic stop as a rookie. They were convicted of human trafficking and attempted murder and sentenced to life in prison, but they've just escaped.

Knuckles is Cha-Cha's orange and white cat named for the orange stripes across his paws that make it look like he's wearing brass knuckles

Brillo is Cha-Cha's wiry gray Schnauzer-mix dog whose coat resembles steel wool.

Geary is the name of the robot that the high school robotics team built under Newton's leadership.

Diane Kelly gives the reader some fun and interesting characters and plots in the Busted series.

Cha Cha was a fun and interesting character that takes her job seriously.  So seriously she manages to to 'take down' 3 bad guys all by herself and saving a trailer load of women and girls from human trafficking!

Cha Cha is one tough gal.  But she is sweet too.  She is a ferocious pet mom with a big heart.

Arrowed by Avery Daniels Great Escapes Tour Review/Giveaway

About the book

It all began when a dying man with an arrow in his chest grabs her ankle.

During a heatwave at a Santa Fe resort, Julienne has the resort owner pressuring her to solve the murder. The victim is a high profile businessman who made enemies rather than friends, leaving Julienne with a roster of suspects. She was supposed to be training the staff and spending quality time with Mason rather than investigating a murder. The heat turns up when an old girlfriend of Mason’s checks in and is determined to get back together.

And I thought

I was turning the pages and enjoying every minute.

I was becoming enamored with Julianne.  I was scratching my head and thinking Hmm.  About Mason.  But I couldn't help think is he 'For Real'.  I was envisioning Fabio from the description.  And I just wasn't sure he was on the Up and Up.  At least until the end.

In the end everything and everyone came together for me.

Julianne solved the mystery.  I liked how the police allowed her involvement in the investigation.  It was refreshing to read a book where the Sleuthing Main Character wasn't downed at every turn by the boyfriend and law enforcement!

I really enjoyed Arrowed.

And then I did a double take bopped myself in the head when I realized 'My Duh Moment'!  I have met these characters before!

I read Iced book 1 when it was on tour with Great Escapes.  You can read my review over Here

I missed the books in between that develope Julianne and Mason's characters and relationship.

Each book is written as a standalone.

I have a couple on my Wish list!

Murder By Page One by Olivia Matthews– REVIEW

About the book.

If you love Hallmark mystery movies,

you’ll love this cozy mystery

with humor, intrigue, and a librarian amateur sleuth.

Marvey, a librarian, has moved from Brooklyn to a quirky small town in Georgia. When she’s not at the library organizing events for readers, she’s handcrafting book-themed jewelry and looking after her cranky cat. At times, her new life in the South still feels strange…and that’s before the discovery of the dead body in the bookstore.

After one of her friends becomes a suspect, Marvey sets out to solve the murder mystery. She even convinces Spence, the wealthy and charming newspaper owner, to help. With his ties to the community, her talents for research, and her fellow librarians’ knowledge, Marvey pursues the truth. But as she gets closer to it, could she be facing a deadly plot twist?

This first in series cozy mystery includes a free Hallmark original recipe for Classic Peach Cobbler.

And I thought

I always enjoy getting into a new series right from the beginning.  Especially when I enjoy the book and the characters so much.

Author Olivia Matthews brings the reader an an interesting somewhat quietly group of town folk. The town of Peach Coast sounds like a great place to live except murder is a foot.

And a great lead character Marvey (what an interesting name) is easy to like.  I enjoyed her hobby of jewelry making.

Murder By Page One was indeed a page turner and kept me up reading well into the night.

I can't wait to visit Peach Coast again.

I received a complimentary copy.

When her cousin, Jackie, asks her to give a presentation to her online class, Amy thinks all she has to worry about is speaking before a group. But then the nitpicky professor collapses. He has been murdered, and hot-tempered Jackie is the prime suspect. Some online forums are even speculating that the professor was an extra-terrestrial, so Amy must sort out fact from fiction to get to the truth.

Certain the real killer is setting Jackie up, will Amy be able to outwit the killer and save her cousin?

And I thought . . .

A charming read.  Well if a Mystery and a bit of murder can be charming.

The cover is definitely charming and The Down South Cafe is a charming place I want to visit.  I loved the cover and couldn't wait to step inside.

Author Gayle Leeson gives the reader some great characters and a great plot/storyline.

I enjoyed meeting Amy. I love a book with likeable characters and Amy is one.

But maybe it's because she makes Truffles.

I enjoyed every moment of Truffles And Tragedy.

Don't worry if you haven't read the first five books in the series.  Author Gayle eases you write into all the charm.

But you might want to pick up the rest. I am!

I received a complimentary copy.

My review will appear on retail sites and Good Reads.

Saddle Up For Murder by C. sMcDonald I read Book Tour

About the book

Fiona is in total shock when her mother arrives unannounced on her doorstep. What’s going on? Why, she’s left Fiona’s father, that’s what. Yikes! Worse, a horse trainer is murdered outside his ex-wife’s home in Pittsburgh, and the trail leads directly to a Thoroughbred racetrack in the neighboring state of West Virginia. Get ready, because the suspects are mounting up and heading down the stretch. Whoa! Fiona and Detective Landry aren’t horsing around with this homicide!

And I thought

A surprisingly great read.

I was new to this author and was glad I got the opportunity to join the I Read Book Tour.

I always love anything to do with horses.  It isn't often a writer takes the reader into the world of horse racing.

It was a jaunty ride with more than one murder to solve.

Lots of Characters fill the pages with a bit of humor.  And lots of twists and turns to keep you turning the pages.

I enjoyed my introduction to this series and plan to read more.

I received a complimentary copy.

My review will appear on retail sites and Good Reads.

And I thought . . .

This one wasn't what I expected.  And not a book I would normally buy.

But I was offered a review copy and I always trust the books offered by I Read Book Tours.

The Time Travel aspect and the Paranormal Genres are not of interest to me.

But the cover drew me in and the endorsement of being on this tour caused me to give it a whirl.

I was pleasantly surprised.

This was a fun read.  The book is well written and has an interesting plot.

I enjoyed the characters.

A great read.

Thanks to I Read Book Tours for introducing me to a new series and a new Genre.

I received a complimentary copy.

My review will appear on retail sites and Good Reads.
