About the book (Create Space)
The first book in the Poppy McGuire Mystery Series, The Eleventh Hour introduces readers to Poppy McGuire and her partner in solving crime, Alex Montero.
Poppy McGuire has always been a curious soul, but it's her life that's usually the topic of conversation in the small town of Sunset Ridge. But now one of the town's most important citizens has been found murdered, and everyone's life is suspect.
What begins as a friendly wager with her old friend Officer Derek Hampton soon becomes far more for Poppy, and she turns to Alex Montero for help, but the enigmatic former Baltimore cop's quiet way hides as many secrets as each suspect they encounter.
Everyone in Sunset Ridge has something to hide, but Poppy and Alex are determined to uncover the identity of the murderer. They just have to watch they don't become the next victims.

And I thought...
A fun new series. A whodunit that will keep you guessing all the way to the end.
I enjoyed reading this book.
The town of Sunset Ridge is quiet small town America until
murder happens. I was reminded a bit Gilmore Girls kind of town. A sleepy quiet place you would want to go to.
And maybe hide away in . . .
. . . .In fact that is exactly what the very handsome Alex Montero tries to do. Until murder strikes and Poppy solicits his help to solve the mystery.
Once established as pseudo partners they get to business uncover would be suspects.
All the while there is an under current of romance. Although it just never happens.
I was a little let down in that department (hence my 4 star rating)
I wanted them to at least decide they really do like each other and maybe hold a hand.
I was a little confused about 2/3's when Alex becomes aloof and actually hides out for a day not returning Poppy's calls.
The reader isn't given an explanation. Neither is Poppy who is just flat mad. The story ends with the mystery solved and Poppy and Alex truly becoming partners when Alex joins the towns police department leading into a 2nd book.
I enjoyed reading the first installment of the Poppy McGuire Series and look forward to reading the rest of the story.
This was a great cozy mystery.
I read The Eleventh Hour on phone using the Kobo app.
I was not asked to write a review.
This review will appear at retail sites where the book is available and on God Reads.
This review will post on My Journey Back and be linked to blog parties.
