Ellen Byron
I want to share why this ornament is particularly special to me. It commemorates a CA park treasure I happened upon while doing research for my research trip last October: Calaveras Big Trees State Park. It's tucked away about a half hour from the absolutely charming town of Murphys. There's a bakery where I bought some of the best apple strudel I'll ever eat on the road up, and we found a fabulous burger joint in Arnold on the way down.
We live in a country with the most extraordinary natural beauty. Mountains, oceans, swamps, plains, buttes, canyons. Let's take a national vow to cherish and preserve it. Celebrate the beauty of nature wherever you live. And fight for its survival if you have to.
