About the book
The Tail Waggin’ Winterfest is the highlight of the season in the famously pet-friendly Pocono Mountains town of Sylvan Creek. But despite attractions like an ice sculpture display, a dogsled race, and gourmet hot chocolate, Daphne Templeton finds herself annoyed by TV producer Lauren Savidge, who’s filming the festivities. She’s critical, controlling, and as chilly as the January air. Daphne would like to tell her to go jump in a lake—and as a matter of fact, that’s exactly what they’re both going to do . . .
It’s the first-ever polar bear plunge in Lake Wallapawakee, and Daphne and Lauren are among the eighty or so people who charge into the frigid water to raise funds for animals in need. Daphne makes it back to shore—with the help of a mysterious St. Bernard—but Lauren is dragged out stone cold dead. Now, with her trusty basset hound Socrates at her side, Daphne intends to assist Detective Jonathan Black in his investigation—whether he wants her to or not . . .
Includes recipes for homemade pet treats!
And I thought
Returning to the town of Sylvan Creek might just be a hazard.
As much as the towns folks and political leaders want to get
Sylvan Creek on the map it's the crimes that keep happening that tend to get it noticed.  That and the wonderful pet-friendly environment.
When Sylvan Creek is chosen for a new pet-themed reality series everyone is excited.
But the fun stops suddenly when one of the t.v. crew dies in an
accident (?)  that turns out not to be accidental.

At the same time Daphne almost drowns and is saved by none other than Detective Black.  Just sayin' I am rootin' for Black

Things get 'dicey' when Black realizes is ex might just be a suspect he has to remove himself from the investigation.  Which is easier said than done.

All the while a new suitor has set his eyes on Daphne and tries to win her over with wining and dining and flowers.

There is a myriad of suspects or at least persons of interest.
From the assistant Joy who gets promoted when the t.v. producer Lauren gets clobbered and dies in the freezing town lake.
Then of course there is Blacks ex who is seems to leave her water bottles laying around at crime scenes.
Then there is the town recluse who 'knows something' but isn't
fessing up.  I suspected that once Daphne figured out what was going own and convinced him to 'tell all'  he would get 'offed' before he could implicate the real criminal.  But he manages
to make it out alive and spills a few beans.

Pasw & Predicaments is book 3 in a fun and entertaining series.
