Ruby by Emily Mims-Goddess Fish Promotions-Book Blast/Giveaway

About the book
Forty years ago Lexi Barstow and Collins Wentworth thought they had made the biggest mistakes of their lives. Heartbreaking choices and bitter tears cemented a pact that would shape who they were and what they would be. But now so much has changed...except the passion they share and the differences between them. But some things are fixable, and with forever staring them hard in the face, they learn all their decisions brought them to this ever after filled with love.

She pushed open the restroom door to leave and stopped in her tracks. Collins was leaning against the wall with his hands folded in front of him, a small smile playing around his lips. Lexi felt her pulse ratchet up a notch and her breath catch. But she’d be damned if she let him see that. “Fancy meeting you again this afternoon,” she teased. “Did you and Sarabeth finish working the room?”
Collins laughed softly. “Was it that obvious? I thought I was being friendly to my daughter’s friends and family.”
“You were that, sure.” Lexi felt a smile curve her lips. “But yes, you were working the room, exactly as you did at Kylie’s wedding. You’re good at it, Collins. But you need to find a friendlier sidekick. Sarabeth is a little too…shall we say, selectively friendly.”
Collins had the grace to wince. “Out of the mouth of babes and Lexi Barstow. You couldn’t varnish the truth if you had to.”
“No, I couldn’t. Never did, never will. Sorry about that.”
“Honesty isn’t a bad thing.” He paused and appeared to be taking a deep breath. “Go out with me tonight, Lexi,” he asked suddenly. His smile widened. “I’d like to take you out on the town.”
Lexi stared at him in shock. That was the last thing she expected to hear from him. “Just like that?”
“Just like that.”
She didn’t try to hide her surprise. “Why?”
“Why does any man want to take out a beautiful woman?” He stepped closer and took her hand. “Because he wants to be in her company, that’s why. Because he’d like to sit across the table from her and enjoy some good conversation and a medium-rare steak.” He looked her in the eye. “I’ve been alone now for four years and divorced for two of them. I’ve spent a lot of time by myself and it gets damned lonely. Let’s go out tonight, Lexi. I’d love to spend an evening with you.”

Lexi’s heart thudded in her throat at his touch. She felt herself shiver as memories flooded her mind of how his hands had caressed her those long years ago. Common sense told her that going out with him would be a bad idea. Common sense reminded her that Collins Wentworth was nothing but trouble. It seemed that her body felt otherwise.

One Night Wife by Ainslie Paton-Pure Textuality Tour-Review/Giveaway

About the book
Finley Cartwright is the queen of lost causes. That’s why she’s standing on a barstool trying to convince Friday night drinkers to donate money to her failing charity. Hitting on the guy on the next stool wasn’t part of her plan. Still, hot but grumpy venture capitalist Caleb Sherwood might just be her ticket to success.
Professional grifter and modern-day Robin Hood, Cal Sherwood is looking for a partner for a long con. Sexy Fin, doing her best Marilyn Monroe act for her cause, has the necessary qualifications. By the time he cuts her free, her charity would be thriving, and she’d have helped him charm billions out of arrogant, gullible marks to fund his social justice causes.
But just when he thinks he’s about to pull off the best con ever, his feisty new partner gets the upper hand.
 Read an excerpt
Was she desperate enough to stand on a barstool in a crowded pub and ask for money? Finley Cartwright sipped her second Midori Sour and considered the state of her desperation and the amount of courage that was contained in a green cocktail.
She hadn’t meant to overspend on their new Dollars for Daughters website, or be the cause for her stressed business partner, Lenny Bradshaw, showing up for work that morning with her shirt on inside out.
Now they had to choose between paying for their gorgeous, new, electronic home or the rent on their pokey, made-of-old-bricks office.
The charity was supposed to be Fin’s way out of waitressing and sweating on her agent finding her a TV commercial or getting a callback after an audition for patient in coma orwoman’s legs.
The seed funding for D4D had come from Lenny’s filthy rich, Wall Street dad, and they’d expected it to keep coming. Enough money to rent an office and start saving the world one microloan at a time.
It’d been a good plan until he was arrested and charged for insider trading, racketeering, and money laundering and sent to prison for a wicked long time.
So yeah, Fin was desperate and in need of courage, because Lenny’s family was melting down, and for once, her superbly well-organized best friend was all out of solutions.
She took in the talent in the crowded pub. It was wall-to-wall suits, people in good jobs who could afford to make a charitable donation.
The barstool option was looking good.
She toasted herself, “Here’s to nothing,” downed the last of the drink and climbed on the stool, yanked her T-shirt down and gave the room her biggest smile—the one that regularly failed to get her into a second-round audition—and with arms thrown wide, began.
“Ladies and gentlemen.”
And I thought
Simply 5 Stars.  One Night Wife is a spectacular romantic read!
The main characters Finley 'Fin' and Cal are charming and have a
charisma that I don't see often.
From the beginning when her ex walks into the bar and starts being a jerk and Finley turns and says to Cal 'Go with it' following a knock his socks off kiss the sparks and sizzle starts!

It's not just sizzle it's just good 'ole sweet romance.  Cal keeps his hands to himself and charms and woes her.

He does have an ulterior motive but Fin is just Fin and wins his heart.

There is only one bedroom scene and it is sweet and romantic.

Mama might blush a little and reluctantly turn the pages.  But Jazzy Grandma would be turning the pages for sure!

The other characters mostly Cal's family members and 'mark' all are woven smoothly into the story.

This is one that I was glad ended with a happy ending.  But I was
sad to see it end.

One Night Wife is book one in the Confidence Game series.
I loved One Night Wife and look forward to read many more
from Ainslie Paton.
The cover begs you to open it and read!   Fin does get the ring
which is a family heirloom.

I received a complimentary copy.

Screwed by Kelly Jamieson-A PureTexuality Tour-Review/Giveaway

About the book
Cash Hale has been in love with his best friend’s wife forever. Now Callie and Beau are divorced, but she’s still way off-limits. Dating her would betray his friendship with Beau. And Cash is nothing if not loyal.
Callie Sutherland is starting over. The end of her marriage was just one more way she failed to live up to her wealthy family’s expectations, so from now on she’s not even going to try. It’s time to live her life the way she wants. And she wants Cash.
Cash and Beau aren’t just friends, they’re business partners, and the drop in the price of oil has hurt their business. They need to win the bid for Sutherland Industries’ next big project—but it may get messy since Callie’s family owns the business. Not only would Cash risk his friendship with Beau to be with her, he’d be risking the company they worked so hard to create.
But this new Callie isn’t taking no for an answer.
He’s so screwed…

And I thought
Up front and honest.  The title didn't get me but the synopsis did.
I just wanted to read this book.
And I did in a day and a half.  I could not put it down.  From page
Callie and Cash had me.  I was swept along with them and was almost fanning myself from the heat.
I loved the characters all of them.  Even Callie's stupid ex.  Who is Cash's best friend and business partner.
Although the best friend part becomes tenuous after Beau is caught in an affair which leads to the divorce and Callie's freedom from a marriage that really never should have been.
Throughout the story Cash struggles with his interest in Callie and stepping over the line in their friendship when they become lovers.

I 'got' her parents.  Did I like them actually I did.  Even though they weren't the best parents because they were more interested in business and society they were nice people.  Mommy was over the top and a mess but deep down she loved her daughter.  She just had a hard time showing it.  Although they pushed Callie to go 'back to'
Beau and didn't support her business and life choices in the end they accepted all Callie's decisions and.

Screwed was a great romance with a bit of sizzle.  This is one that would make mama more than blush but I'd suggest she give it a chance.   Screwed is worth the read.  The bedroom scenes are hot and there are a few f-bombs and some language.
My Jazzy Grandma might just like it.  Mama wouldn't!

I really enjoyed Screwed by Kelly Jamieson and look forward
to reading more.

Bear Witness To Murder by Meg Macy-Great Escapes Tour-Review/Giveaway

There is a Giveaway scroll to the bottom to enter

About the book
As autumn air settles into the quaint small town of Silver Hollow, there’s nothing more popular than Sasha’s teddy bears—and murder in cold blood . . .
Silver Bear Shop and Factory manager Sasha Silverman is cozying up to the fall season by hosting Silver Hollow’s Cranbeary Tea Party, the opening event of the village’s Oktobear Fest—a too-cute celebration themed around teddy bears. She barely has a moment to agonize over the return of her former high school rival, Holly Parker, whose new toy and bookstore in town could spell big trouble for the Silver Bear Shop and her cousin’s small bookstore . . .
But when Sasha discovers Holly’s shop assistant dead with a knife plunged in her body, the unpleasant woman suddenly looks like a real backstabber. So does Sasha’s ex-husband, rumored to have rekindled the fiery extramarital affair he once had with the victim. Now, before a gruesome homicide case takes the fun out of both the Fest and her personal life, Sasha must identify the true culprit from a daunting suspect list—or risk becoming as lifeless as one of her stuffed bears . . .
And I thought
I thought Bear Witness To Murder was a good read.  It took me a little while to get interested but once I did putting it down was hard. I wanted to see how it all turned out.

There was lots I really enjoyed about the book.  I enjoyed the
story taking place around Halloween and the Oktobear Fest was a cute way to incorporate the theme.  I loved the idea of the children
hunting for bear in the woods.  A play on Teddy Bears Picnic.

I kind of felt like the author struggled a little in introducing people and some of plot.  There were alot of descriptions like what people
were wearing, where they were or going and what they were doing that seemed a little overboard.   It just didn't seem to flow for me.

Bear Witness To Murder is book 2 in the series and there were alot of references back to book 1. (which I have not had the pleasure to read).  Book 2 is a stand alone and reads as one.
The author does include the references to book 1 which kind of seemed like teasers to me to draw me into reading book 1.

I was a little curious as to why Sasha's mom keep pushing her to forgive her cheating ex and try again. I won't give anything away but he's a real piece of work. So what is up with mom?

The ending is left with a bit of a cliff hanger in the romance department because Sasha's new boyfriend leaves town for a few months.  He's hoping to re-kindle their budding romance in the New Year.  I am left wondering hmm.  With all the sniffing around the scoundrel of an ex is doing.  Hurry home Jay!

The story/plot around the murder made the book a page turner.
I kind of had an idea of who was involved just by the way a couple of the characters were acting but there was a twist at the end that
threw everyone  the townspeople and this reader off  kilter.

As I turned the last pages I thought two things.  I need to go back and read book 1. And how long do I have to wait for book 3?

Bear Witness To Murder was a good cozy read.

Stolen Obsession by Marlene M Bell-Indie Sage Tour-Book Review/Giveaway

About the book
People die, but legends live on.
New York antiquities appraiser Annalisse Drury recently lost her best friend to murder. The killer’s identity may be linked to her friend’s expensive missing bracelet—a 500-year-old artifact that carries an ancient curse, one that unleashes evil upon any who dare wear the jewelry created for the Persian royal family.
Weeks later, Annalisse sees a matching necklace at a Manhattan gallery opening. She begs the owner to destroy the cursed piece, but her pleas fall on deaf ears—despite the unnatural death that occurs during the opening. With two victims linked to the jewelry, Annalisse is certain she must act.
Desperate, Annalisse enlists the gallery owner’s son to help—even though she’s afraid he’ll break her heart. Wealthy and devastatingly handsome, with a string of bereft women in his wake, Greek playboy Alec Zavos dismisses Annalisse’s concerns—until his parents are ripped from the Zavos family yacht during their ocean voyage near Crete.
Annalisse and Alec race across two oceans to save his mother, feared dead or kidnapped. When the killer changes tactics and goes after Alec behind Annalisse’s back, can her plan to rescue Alec’s mother save them all?
Hold on for a heart-thumping, thrilling adventure through exotic lands in this fast-moving romantic suspense mystery by Marlene M. Bell.
Read an excerpt
Alec lifted her hand seductively and kissed her knuckles like they’d just met. Greek men were so different. She felt the urge to curtsy, but buried the impulse with a smile. She didn’t want to feel anything for Alec, and wished she were home, safe from the schoolgirl thuds banging away in her chest. She wasn’t ready to date yet. Not since they found Sam.
“Now, what do you think of the necklace?” Generosa twirled her arm toward the case in game show host style.
Annalisse loved the way Generosa’s gestures followed her words. A modest woman whose confidence and positive attitude had rescued Annalisse from more than a few scrapes with Harry.
“It scares me, Gen. I’d like your permission to cover it tonight.”
“Nonsense, bambolina.” Generosa escorted Alec to the display.
“It’s a bad omen. Where’d you find it?” Annalisse balled a fist and banged her hip.
Generosa clicked the glass with her acrylic nails. “Doesn’t the motif remind you of your beautiful horses, son? I know we shouldn’t have copied Sam’s bracelet, but I had to have one. We added filigree next to the acorns for a modern touch and redesigned it in fourteen karat.”
Annalisse peered inside the case then slowly met Generosa’s gaze. “You are one of the most special people in my life, so please don’t take this the wrong way. There’s no filigree, and it’s not a recent piece.” She lowered her voice. “I beg you— shove it in a safe deposit box. I don’t care, lock it away, but don’t tell anyone you have it, and never wear it.”
“Why?” Alec stepped between her and Generosa.
“Sam. The curse this necklace carries—the same destiny as her bracelet.”
“Pooh.” Generosa tsked.
“What curse?” Alec leaned closer.
With the speed of an open water faucet, Generosa’s words ran together. “I know every painting and artifact in this gallery. I sell only new jewelry, Annalisse. I’ve planned this event for months. Must we do this?”
“It’s from ancient Persia. The ruling Mushasha had ordered death to the wearer of any collection piece. Sam bought her bracelet just before she died. I know her killing wasn’t random.” Annalisse touched Generosa’s wrist. “And I won’t stand by while this necklace hurts you.”
“Mu-what?” Generosa’s lips soured in a pucker.
Annalisse’s breathing intensified into short bursts. Marble statues mocked her with their stares. If Generosa made a copy, then someone switched her necklace with the true artifact. But, taking a fake and leaving the real one in its place made no sense.
“Do you have the matching ring, too?” Annalisse swayed. When she stumbled, Alec caught her around the waist. “I’m okay.” Annalisse adjusted the foot that slipped out of her shoe. “Shouldn’t have skipped lunch.”

“Eat something.” Generosa crooked a finger at a server near the staircase. “The jewelry collection’s been missing a long time. Hundreds of years. It’s priceless, and now someone wants the pieces back. This display in your shop makes us a…target.”
