About the book
Too many cooks in the kitchen spoil the broth. And let me tell you, this broth is in trouble. Get ready for a Southern showdown.
The residents of Cottonwood, Kentucky are sent into a tizzy when the Culinary Channel comes to town to film an episode of Southern Home Cookin’ with celebrity chef Frank Von Lee.
Especially Sheriff Kenni Lowry.
Her mama’s award-winning chicken pot pie is what brought Frank to town, and they don’t make hair in the South bigger than her mama’s ego after the news.
When Frank Von Lee is found dead from food poisoning and the most likely culprit is Mama’s chicken pot pie, Kenni’s poppa, the former sheriff, comes back from the Great Beyond to assist in the investigation.
But nothing’s prepared Kenni for such a personal tie to a case, and she finds herself pushing the limits of the laws she’s sworn to protect.
This book’s so delicious it’ll make your mouth water and leave you hankerin’ for more.
And others are saying
There are some very funny moments in this mystery along with plenty of down-home charm.

This is one of those books that there are a few characters that could be the killer and is in your hands to discover the truth.

I loved the fast pace story and the suspects that started to come out of the woodwork. The author sure knows how to weave a tale of mystery that entices readers to stay glued to the book.

Kappes captures the spirit of Kentucky small towns once again in Six Feet Under and is always a pleasure to read. The mystery is creative, the story well-paced, and the recipes, well, to die for, downright delicious!

There’s a bit of romance, a juicy murder, a sprinkling of the paranormal, and a whole lot of southern flavor and shenanigans. All the fixins you need for a fun cozy mystery.

WELCOME TO BEN’S DINER

Take a seat anywhere! I’ll be right with you! Menus are stuck between the salt and pepper shaker. They could be stuck together, just pull them apart.

Here’s your creamer for your coffee. Do you mind flipping your cup over for me? Great. I’ll leave the pot here for you to refill as much as you like. I’m Ben, the obvious owner of Ben’s. You new around here? Oh, visiting. That’s nice. I’m a homecooked diner. Most of our food, well all of our food is southern. I’ll let you look over the menu. Do you have any questions about Cottonwood? I’ve lived here all my life.

The rock wall around Cottonwood? Those are amazing, aren’t they?

A lot of people have the wrong idea that these were built by black slaves. They’re half wrong. If there’s one thing you’ll learn about your visit to Cottonwood, people love to gossip. Half-truths and half-tales. I’m not saying their liars or making it up, I’m just saying they light to stretch the truth.
Here’s the real story. The walls were built by stone mason Irish Immigrants in the early 19th century. The walls were constructed with the fine limestone that you’ll find all over Kentucky. The limestone also gives the tint of blue in our bluegrass. It’s also very nutritious for the horses to eat. You know we love our horses.
One fact about the walls, they are all built with NO mortar. The stones are all laid by hand and mortar free. After the Irish immigrants left, the walls were finished up by black slaves. These walls very built for pastures and to keep in the herds. Now they are a beautiful sight in Kentucky. In fact, it’s against the law to take a wall down and you have to get it repaired if it’s on your property.

You got any more questions?
The biscuits and gravy? Mmmm, mmmm good. It’s sausage gravy. Sure, you can have that. Anything else before you get your day started?

Enjoy!

And I thought
The Kenni Lowry series just keeps getting better!  Six Feet Under
is only the 4th book in the series.  Don't worry if you start with this one.  You'll catch on real quick but be warned you'll really
want to pick up the rest.
I actually wasn't really sure how I would feel about the whole
paranormal spin.
Kenni's father is the previous town sheriff.  But well he's actually dead.  And so Kenni became the new sheriff.  But well daddy isn't leaving things alone.  He shows up and talks to Kenni and gives her suggestions and lets her know what's going on.
In book 4 Kenni daddy shows up more and more.  Well of course he would his wife is the prime suspect.  And since he's showing up more poor Kenni gets caught 'talking to herself' but she's not really she is talking to daddy.
The cast the residents of Cottonwood are a fun and comical group.
You might snicker.  You might giggle.  And there are a couple of scenes you might just have a good 'ole laugh.
The plot is fast paced and you'll be turning the pages trying to figure out who did it.  It might slow you down though as the suspects start piling up!
If you love a good cozy mystery Six Feet Under is for you!
Oh and there is some romance too!
You'll enjoy it so much you'll want to pick up the other 3.
