Walk With Me-Book Review/Author Interview-I Read Book Tours

Walk With Me by Debra Schoenberger

About the book
Whenever I'm asked "which is the best camera?" I pretty much respond: "the one you have on you." In fact, most of the images in this book were taken with my cell phone simply because I always have it with me.

This is not only a book about street photography but a visual diary, or collection of quirky, unusual and sometimes just plain weird photos I've taken over the course of the last decade.

As a street photographer, I need to be an assiduous walker. My sneakers often take me to little known, hidden corners, seaweed strewn (and sometimes stinky) beaches and really cool back alleys of my rather small island city of Victoria, BC.

I've also included images of curiosities I've seen throughout my travels.

Everyone sees the world differently and this is my collection of the quirkyness that I call life.
And I thought
A beautiful collection of photography.  If your a lover of photography and coffee table books you'll love Walk With Me.

Debra aka Girl With Camera takes you along on a journey that many might cautious about taking.

From back alleys to remote places Debra shares everyday life
and some kind of crazy things.  Debra shares some of the odd things in the interview below.

There is a varied collection of subjects from people to still life kind of shots.

I loved the opportunity to see a little of Debra's work.
I received a e-copy of Walk With Me.
This is one book that I would purchase.

I received a complimentary copy.
This review will appear on retail sites where available and on
Good Reads.

Interview with Debra Schoenberger aka #girlwithcamera

Hello Debra.  Welcome to the blog.  I was so excited to get the
chance to see your new book and chat with you about it!

I’ve never had the opportunity to interview a photographer.  I am so excited. I hope you enjoy our little chat.

Before we get into the book let’s break the ice with a few random questions.

Chocolate with nuts or without?
With nuts!

Grilled Cheese or BLT?

Do you have a favorite pet?
Kipper, my budie and Fatboy my hummingbird

And one more just for fun! Spring or Winter?
Spring!  Me too!

Let's get into the book and your work!

One thing I am a bit curious about.  How does your family
feel about you and your camera.  Are you always documenting
family events?
I try to photograph my family whenever we are together which is not
often enough as we live quite far apart.

Let's get into the new book a bit.
For our readers who have not seen the new book can you give a sneak peek maybe.
Share a few locations? Maybe an idea of subjects etc.?
Some of the locations are :Montreal, Florence, Venice, Rome, New York,
Victoria-BC, Tibet, Beijing, Chilliwack, New Jersey, Mongolia, India, Amsterdam,
Paris, Iceland and others.
Subjects range from bandaids on broken windows to shoes at a flea market.

I am just fascinated with the lovely shots.  Can you tell us a little bit about
street photography?
That is hard to define.  It you're walking and you see something that captures
your interest, you document it.  It can be posed or candid.  Walking definitely
increases the probability of finding something interesting as you are able to stop and
take the picture.

Having been such a fan of National Geographic what was it like to find out
your was to be in the museum?

I was really surprised and honored to have my picture chosen.  There are so many
talented photographers around the world.

Can you tell where was the most interesting place that you shot?
Probably India.  It's pulsating with life and I could go back over and over again
and never see the same thing twice.

Do you have a favorite location?  Maybe somewhere you've been and want to back?
Hmm, good question  I would love to go back to Italy.  I adore Venice and Florence
but the warm light reflecting on the buildings in Rome was very dreamy.
There are so many new places to discover- this year I  am going to Africa and hop to
learn more about its culture and people.

This super fun.  I hope you enjoyed visiting as much as I did.
Congratulations on the new book and Best Wishes for the tour.

Thanks for having me!

Debra Schoenberger aka #girlwithcamera

"My dad always carried a camera under the seat of his car and was constantly taking pictures. I think that his example, together with pouring over National Geographic magazines as a child fuelled my curiosity for the world around me.

I am a documentary photographer and street photography is my passion. Some of my images have been chosen by National Geographic as editor's favourites and are on display in the National Geographic museum in Washington, DC.  I also have an off-kilter sense of humour so I'm always looking for the unusual.
