Christian New Releases and Sales offered by Faith Books

A man who lost everything.

A woman squatting on a property that's not hers.

An aunt who suggests a marriage of convenience.

When Smith Long strides into his new hometown, he doesn't expect to get bowled over by a woman chasing her cow whom she claims has fallen in love with a pig. Doesn't every small town have that one crazy person?

He's not laughing later, though, when his aunt informs him that in order for him to receive the old, rundown property she'd promised him, he has to marry the crazy woman he'd hoped to never see again.

Abrielle Adams is squatting on Sweet Briar Ranch and hoping that she'll get back on her feet before the heir shows up. Wishful thinking since she finds out that the man who'd kept her from catching her cow is the very person she was trying to avoid.

But now Abrielle has been offered the one thing she could really use - half ownership of the Sweet Briar Ranch - and all she has to do is marry a (grumpy, sour, and okay, handsome) stranger.

To both Abrielle and Smith, marriage is more than convenience and a vow is a lifetime commitment. Will they see how much they have in common and decide they need each other?

Hard Landing:

Two wary souls get a second chance at love…

If a killer doesn’t find them first.

When a stalker turns to murder, pilot Kelli Spencer needs protection. What she doesn’t need is her old love Jack Reese returning to stir things up, but the former Navy SEAL and his team of protection specialists are the best of the best. Trust him with her life? If she has to. Her heart? No way.

Fast Landing

Old secrets, and a killer willing to do anything to keep them buried.

When a sniper’s bullet narrowly misses cafe owner Lauren Lowe in her own driveway, her life spins out of control. Who’d hire a professional assassin to eliminate a church-going restaurant owner?

Forced to take Lauren on the run, former SEAL Austin Daggett vows to keep her safe…and away from his own, grieving heart.

No Landing

She’s loved him forever, but will a determined killer destroy their chances for a happy ending?

Star Brannigan might know more about computers than people, but she’s certain her brother was murdered because of the dangerous ransomware program he and their friends thought they’d destroyed years ago.

Now she's got proof. The killer's stalking her.

There’s only one man she can turn to for help: former SEAL and Knight Tactical operative Ethan Hernandez, her brother’s best friend, an expert cybergeek, and the man she betrayed.

Haunted Hibiscus by Laura Child's

About the book

Tea maven Theodosia Browning brews up trouble in the latest Tea Shop Mystery from New York Times bestselling author Laura Childs.

It is the week before Halloween and Theodosia Browning, proprietor of the Indigo Tea Shop, and her tea sommelier, Drayton, are ghosting through the dusk of a cool Charleston evening on their way to the old Bouchard Mansion. Known as the Gray Ghost, this dilapidated place was recently bequeathed to the Heritage Society, and tonight heralds the grand opening of their literary and historical themed haunted house.

Though Timothy Neville, the patriarch of the Heritage Society, is not thrilled with the fund-raising idea, it is the perfect venue for his grandniece, Willow French, to sign copies of her new book, Carolina Crimes & Creepers.

But amid a parade of characters dressed as Edgar Allan Poe, Lady Macbeth, and the Headless Horseman, Willow's body is suddenly tossed from the third-floor tower room and left to dangle at the end of a rope. Police come screaming in and Theodosia's boyfriend, Detective Pete Riley, is sent to Willow's apartment to investigate. But minutes later, he is shot and wounded by a shadowy intruder.

Timothy begs Theodosia to investigate, and shaken by Riley's assault, she readily agrees. Now, she questions members of the Heritage Society and a man who claims the mansion is rightfully his, as well as Willow's book publisher and her fiancé, all while hosting a Sherlock Holmes tea and catering several others.

But the Gray Ghost holds many secrets, as do several other key suspects, while this murder mystery plays out on the eve of Halloween.

INCLUDES DELICIOUS RECIPES AND TEA TIME TIPS!

And I thought

I got the chance to enjoy this great title through the YouTube App.

For me listening  to a book has really more negatives than positives.

I enjoy listening  and doing other things.  Frees me up!

One negative in listening to this title is the recipes that are included in print copies are not included  in the audio version.  ( some titles by other authors do include recipes)

One thing I really  like and enjoy about this series is the food that is served at Theodosia's Tea shop.

Author Laura Childs describes a place that almost seems real and you wish it was.

I enjoyed the story and plot.

There were lots of twists and turns that keeps the reader involved and kind of thinking abit to keep up with the suspects Theodosia  uncovers.

Halloween is my least favorite  holiday but the ghosts and eerie happenings are well written and not graphic.  References to Edgar Alan Poe make an interesting  read.

The catered Tea Party at the end which unravels the mystery is set in a Poe theme even included a Raven cake which is depicted  on the cover.

I enjoyed reading Haunted Hibiscus and plan to search for a print copy.

My review will appear on Amazon and Good Reads.

This review is my opinion about the  book.   No on one asked me to review.

About the Author

Laura Childs is the New York Times bestselling author of the Tea Shop Mysteries, Scrapbooking Mysteries, and Cackleberry Club Mysteries. In her previous life she was CEO of her own marketing firm, authored several screenplays, and produced a reality TV show.

A Study in Chocolate by Amber Royer Great Escapes Book Tour My Review

About the book

Felicity Koerber’s bean to bar chocolate shop on Galveston’s historic Strand is expanding, as it has become a gathering spot for the community, despite having been the scene of multiple murders. Artists she met while doing a chocolate sculpture are now working out of the shop. So when Felicity is invited to tea by an eccentric art collector, she’s intrigued, especially when she gets asked to pose for a portrait done with chocolate on chocolate. Only, where there is a murder the next day at the same historic house where the tea was held, one of Felicity’s artist friends becomes the main suspect.

When the killer threatens that, unless Felicity unravels the murder, one of her two love interests will be the next victim, she finds herself unwittingly at the center of a puzzle, with a Sherlock Holmes obsessed murderer who wants to be the next Moriarty – and wants to cast Felicity as Sherlock.

Felicity starts finding unexpected connects between her friends and acquaintances, and has to deal with the idea that someone who knows her is a murderer. At the same time, she has to keep her business running, despite construction dust and unruly customers – and an unexpected order for thousands of truffles.

Satchmo the retired police dog turned therapy dog returns to help her sniff out a few clues, and the kidnapping of Ruffles, the quirky artist’s cat, helps lead Felicity into the puzzle. Can Felicity solve it in time to protect the people she cares about from becoming additional victims?

And I thought

A fun series.  I enjoy Felicity and the other characters in the series.

And the locale really gets me.

For me it is fun following Felicity around her version of Galveston Island, Texas.

Amber Royer is an excellent researcher and weaves a story around real and fictional places.

I kind of think each book gets better than the one before.

As you read you become friends with the characters in a 'Fan Girl' kind of way.  And as you get to know the characters you (at least the reader does) jump on a team and wish Felicity will just make up her mind about Logan or Arlo.

But maybe she won't because then what?  Just maybe there is room for both.

Amber Royer is indeed an expert in Chocolate and writes a story filled with details of chocolate making.

I enjoyed the nod to Sherlock Holmes.

Since I have read all the books in the series I like that Satchmo has returned.

This one was hard to put down as are all the books in the series.

If you haven't started this series check it out!

I received by a complimentary copy.

My review will appear on Amazon and Good Reads

The town and the mansions were decorated for Christmas. We enjoyed learning the history of the area, and we walked miles and miles around the town.

We survived Winter Storm Elliott, but it was dicey. We celebrated Christmas in Kentucky. The temperature dropped to -7 with a windchill of -45. Brr! We changed our travel plans and got there before the freeze set in. I hope

Dial Meow for Murder Great Escapes Tour & Giveaway

January 16 – My Reading Journeys

About the book

When children’s book author, Christy Bailey, receives a call from her aunt Betty to help out at her bookshop, she drops everything to go. Christy packs up her two cats—Milton and Pearl, the stars of her children’s mystery books—and leaves busy Philadelphia for tiny Green Meadow, Indiana. The timing of the call is perfect, as Christy’s letch of an ex-boyfriend has just cleaned out her savings, leaving Christy with a pile of unpaid bills and a desire to start over. And what better place to do that than a charming small town in Middle America?

But when Christy reaches her aunt’s bookshop, instead of small town hospitality she finds a dead body! Even worse, her aunt is passed out in the corner, hands covered in blood. The dead woman is an old frenemy of her Aunt Betty, and while Christy knows her aunt is innocent, the local detective isn’t so sure. With Milton and Pearl prowling for clues, Christy is determined to find the real killer and clear her aunt’s name… before her story ends in tragedy!

And I thought

What a fun new series!

And what an amazing couple of cats!

I enjoyed every turn of the page!

Christy is a great main character that you can't help but like.

In typical Cozy style Christy plans to  start over in a new town with the help of her aunt.

But before they can begin poor aunt Betty becomes a suspect and the sleuthing must begin!

As it turns out author Ruth Hartman gives us a newish plot with an interesting angle.

In true cozy style in the end the mystery gets unraveled and Aunt Betty gets her Happy Ever After.  And Christy is ready for her New Chapter!

I enjoyed everything about this book.  From the setting and locale to the plot and characters and especially Milton and Pearl who steal the show a bit.

I am looking forward to book 2.

I received complimentary copy.

Invitation To A Killer by G. M. Malliet My Revi

About the book

Description

Crime writer turned sleuth, Augusta Hawke finds herself drawn into her second mystery when a celebrity doctor is found dead at a party she is attending!

Callie Moore is no ordinary aspiring writer. Notorious wife of a Washington lobbyist, Callie believes no publicity is bad publicity and that publishing her scandalous memoirs will help her achieve her heart's desire: a diplomatic posting. She just needs crime novelist Augusta Hawke to be her ghostwriter.

It's hard to say no to Callie, but Augusta does agree to attend her dinner party. The guest list is impressive, and it's Augusta's chance to meet celebrity doctor Doc Burke. But before Augusta really gets a chance to chat with the famous humanitarian, the evening ends in his untimely death.

Signs point to a heart attack, but Augusta isn't convinced. Especially when his niece tells Augusta about the mystery woman who claimed the doctor's remains.

Augusta decides to host a writers' retreat and invite all the suspects, most of whom are connected in some way with writing. Isn't that what Agatha Christie would do? But the remote lodge soon becomes snowed in and the group starts to crack when it becomes clear the killer may not be finished killing. Can Augusta flush out the culprit before anyone else gets hurt?

And I thought

If I had been reading the print copy I would have been turning the pages at break neck speed and reading into the wee hours of the night.

As it was I was listening to the audio version even while my phone was plugged in charging.

I am glad I got the chance to be introduced to the author and this fun series.

And getting in at book 2 made it even better.  I only have 1 title to backtrack  too.  (book 1 is on my wish list)

Invitation To A Killer was indeed a page turner.

From the first page I was drawn into the main character  and the unfolding drama.

Augusta North the main character  isn't  your normal Cozy Mystery Character.   She is not reluctant  to investigate.   She's ready and up to the task to find the clues once she realizes  the death of a doctor might not be what it appears.

It was easy for this reader to keep up with the suspects all 10 or more.  I lost count but each character  was well described and it was easy to keep them all straight.

From the Flamboyant Callie who is trying to get an appointment as an Ambassador to Felicity always seems to have a gun at the ready to Nell who unknowingly gives Agatha the clue she needs to release THAT the good doctor was indeed murdered.

In The epilogue Agatha hints Nell just might be back in the future.  I enjoyed how Agatha retells the story to her editor in the end.

I enjoyed and liked Detective Narducci and the building relationship with Agatha.  It was refreshing to see the cop accepting the sleuths help and even working together.

There were a couple of different  story's to solve that intertwined around the murder(?).

Not having been a reader of Aga Christy I didn't  get all the references  and probably  missed alot.  I suspect  a fan would love reading this book.

I look forward  to reading book 1 and I will be reading other series by the author when I get a chance.

I received  a complimentary  copy from Net Galley.

Author Book Spotlight Excerpt Her Surprise Cowboy Groom by Cathy McDavid

Excerpt from

 HER SURPRISE COWBOY GROOM

“So, you’re both three?” Laurel smiled at the pair of little girls, completely smitten.

They nodded vigorously, their crooked ponytails bouncing.

“And you’re twins?”

More nodding. The one in purple plopped down in front of Jelly Belly and hugged the dog’s neck. Jelly Belly’s attempts to crawl into her lap produced an eruption of giggles.

The office door again flew open. Laurel fully expected a typical, casually attired, millennial couple to emerge, parents of these girls and Jelly Belly’s owner. Or, perhaps, a harried mother who’d stopped in for a quick meeting to go over some detail on her new house design.

Laurel was wrong on both counts. A tall, broad-shouldered cowboy filled the doorway. With his dusty boots, weathered hat, worn work shirt and jeans that had traveled thousands of miles in the saddle, he couldn’t possibly be these adorable girls’ father.

“Daddy, Daddy!” They rushed over, pulling on his hand and belt loops in a bid for attention.

Jelly Belly yipped and stood on her hind legs, pawing the air.

Okay. Wrong again.

He stepped onto the boardwalk and placed a hand atop each girl’s head. “I’m sorry if these two are bothering you.”

“Not at all. They were telling me about Jelly Belly.”

He flashed a smile that lit up his entire face, especially his eyes. Were they green or golden brown? Green, she determined on closer inspection. Definitely. And very compelling.

Suddenly aware of her own appearance, Laurel tugged on the brim of her bonnet. Why had she chosen this wretched old thing? And when had she last applied lip gloss?

The Game is A Footnote by Vicki Delany My Review

About the book

Gemma Doyle and Jayne Wilson are back on the case when a body is discovered in a haunted museum in bestselling author Vicki Delany's eighth Sherlock Holmes Bookshop mystery.

Scarlet House, now a historical re-enactment museum, is the oldest building in West London, Massachusetts. When things start moving around on their own, board members suggest that Gemma Doyle, owner of the Sherlock Holmes Bookshop and Emporium, might be able to get to the bottom of it. Gemma doesn’t believe in ghosts, but she agrees to ‘eliminate the impossible’. But when Gemma and Jayne stumble across a dead body on the property, they’re forced to consider an all too physical threat.

Gemma and Jayne suspect foul play as they start to uncover more secrets about the museum. With the museum being a revolving door for potential killers, they have plenty of options for who might be the actual culprit.

Despite Gemma's determination not to get further involved, it would appear that once again, and much to the displeasure of Detective Ryan Ashburton, the game is afoot.

Will Gemma and Jayne be able to solve the mystery behind the haunted museum, or will they be the next to haunt it?

And I thought

This was my first chance to read a book in this series.  Actually I didn't read I listened.  I was glad to get it an audio version ARC copy thru  Net Galley.

Even though the title is #8 in the series I had no trouble getting to know the characters.

There was references to Gemma's (the main character) mom and uncle who were off on their own adventure.  They are apparently big players in the series.

I enjoyed all the characters I met (well most of them)  (the one's I really didn't like were just sub characters that live in town) I couldn't help but wonder if Robin the President of the historical society (and one character I didn't like). Might end up with some mystery of her own that needs solving in a future book.

The author kept this reader guessing with more than one mystery to solve.  After the first victim dies a shop clerk disappears leaving everyone wondering if there is a connection.

The plots/storylines we're really good and there were some great characters.

I look forward to reading more in this series.

I received a complimentary copy form Net Galley.

My review will appear on Amazon, Good Reads and Net Galley.

But when Clint dies in an accident, he leaves behind a young daughter, and it's up to Cullen to pick up the pieces to help the girl. The question is, can he also pick up the pieces for the woman, whom he knows nothing about, coming to marry his dead brother?

When Maggie Colton steps off the stagecoach in the small town of Lone Hollow, she’s unaware of her intended husband-to-be’s accident. She also doesn’t know about his brother or the condition of the cattle ranch she believed was something other than what it is. Clint hadn’t exactly been honest about everything, leaving Maggie to rough it in an older ranch house, an even older guest house, and a barn that has seen better days. Not to mention hundreds of cattle, dozens of chickens, pigs, horses, and what she is sure is the fattest cat she’s ever seen.

Will Cullen send her back before her bags are unpacked? And if she stays, will Maggie be able to not only win his heart, but survive this new life she’s found herself in?
