Lost Billionaire Heir by Sophia Summer Book Review

About the book
man who doesn't know he's about to be a billionaire. A woman who is forced to marry well.

The tall Texan ranch hand leaned back against the corral fencing as he waited for the ranch guests to gather by the stable. His cowboy hat was pulled down shading his eyes as he chewed on the end of a tall piece of grass. This was his time to get a good look at the guests before he saddled their horses and helped them into the saddle. Working at the exclusive Rio Lago Ranch gave him a birds-eye view of a class of people much different from those in his home town in Minnesota. Jacob could size up most of the guests just by watching them a few minutes. Some guests were more trouble than others. He had learned how to avoid the advances of the women who found him very similar in appearance to the cover models on the western romance novels they loved. He wasn't interested; the only woman he had ever loved he met on the run hiding floating down the Mississippi River years ago. What will happen when she shows up as a guest at the Rio Lago Ranch?

Will his late grandfather's lawyers find him before she marries someone else?

And I thought
I jumped on the chance to read this one.  I love a good
Cowboy romance and Sophia Summers always gives this reader a page turner that just makes you smile.

I have read another book in this series a few months ago and I was happy to revisit the Dude Ranch in Texas.

This is a great series and each book is written as a stand alone.
Some characters  make appearances in more than one book.

I enjoyed the main  characters Libby and Jacob.   Finding each other again after being separated as teenagers they reconnected and become reacquainted as adults.
There's a little drama and a little suspense between the pages when Libby breaks up with her fiance and he checks out of town but not before a few bad guys chase him down.
This is a great sweet romance.
I have enjoyed this series.

My review will appear on Amazon and Good Reads.
Lost Billionaire Heir will be promoted on social media and featured in future posts her and on My Journey Back-The-Journey Back Blog.

Hostile Prsuit by Juno Rushdan-Silver Dagger Book Tour-Review/Giveaway

Hostile Pursuit (A Hard Core Justice Thriller Book 1) by [Juno Rushdan]

About the book
Only twenty-four hours remain until marshal Nick McKenna’s informant, Lori Carpenter, will testify against a powerful drug cartel. Nick has kept her safe for an entire year, but now all hell is breaking loose. With a team of cold-blooded assassins closing in, the by-the-book lawman decides to go rogue. He’ll risk his life for duty…and put it all on the line for his irresistible witness.
And I thought
The story was good.  I enjoyed the suspense, the hunky hero and the girl.
I enjoyed the characters.  Most of them.
But I couldn't help but think that when the asassin went 'Hostile' that we went from a good story/plot to just over the top crazy.
I lost count at how many people  that were caught up in the chaos.
I lost count at how many pawns (assasin's helpers) she used.
I lost count at how many times she missed.  This girl yes a female assasin is like the energizer bunny.
There's an attempt at a shopping mall.  Then in a small town they are caught and get away then caught again. (I would love to share what happened there but that is TMI) Then get away and are chased.
And then finally get away for the night.
But once again energizer bunny is waiting the next morning and wrecks more havoc with explosives, grenades and all manner of weapons.  And she has a whole new group of 'pawns' her helpers setting everything in motion.
This was truly a fast and wild ride.  Maybe a bit too wild for me.
But there were things I really liked.
I enjoyed the main characters.
There is a surprise 'twist' at the end that had me scratching my head trying to decide how I felt about the book.

And I think I even like the idea that the reader is set up for book 2 in the end.

Will I buy the next one?  The jury is still out on that one.

Other than the violence Hostile Pursuit is a good romance.
Two bedroom scenes happen at the very end.  My Jazzy Grandma would be fanning herself and probably turning the pages!
I was offered to read Hostile Pursuit for the purpose of promoting the tour.

I was interested because I was drawn in by the cover. As I
was writing this review and collecting the book info.  there is something I noticed.  The cover shows Lori as a brunette. If I am not mistaken she is blonde.  I have already deleted my copy so I can't double check.

I received a complimentary copy.
My review will appear on retail sites and Good Reads.

1st line Friday feat. Duplicity by Sara Rosette

I love this series and this author.  Check out this 1st line of a brand new release!

Harrington Throckmorton's posh British tones came through Zoe's cell phone.   "I'm preparing a parcel for you.  If you want it, that is."

And on page 56
..."No they look fabulous, but they're not prints."  Zoe took her
phone out of her messsenger bag.  "They're paintintings--
stolen paintings."

“Easy, you’re going to be okay.” A soft voice eased through the chaos around him. The owner of the voice grabbed his arms and held them in a firm but gentle grip. “I’m right here with you. You are not alone.” “Can hardly m-move.” His voice slurred. “C-can’t see anything.” “You’ve been in an accident. I’m an EMT with the ambulance squad,” the velvety voice calmly explained. “You can’t see well because we’re under a tarp. Hold still, okay?” “‘K.” A small light flickered at the edge of his vision. It shone into a bag next to him. Penlight. “You’re restrained to a board. It’s to keep your head from moving and causing more injury.” She continued to talk to him. The voice reached down somewhere inside him, calming and peaceful, so he focused on it. A glow from spotlights on the outside lit whatever covered them. The shadow gave the woman the appearance of a halo—like an angel.

And I thought
I really enjoyed Rock House Grill.  Honestly it was not what I expected.
I kind of expected your typical Romance/Suspense.  The same 'ole Hero running around trying to keep the girl safe while falling in love with her along the way.
And that is what you get and alot more.
What I didn't expect was no bedroom scenes.
What I didn't expect was no language.
And well it was a darn good book anyway.
Which is what I Like.
The author spins a story that keeps you interested and turning the pages.
For me it was a bit slower in the beginning as the stage is set for the Romance but it isn't long before things start going hay wire and there are people assaulted, houses ransacked and cars keyed.
All the chaos though just seems to take a back-burner to the rest of the story(s).
The characters are well developed.  As I read I could see the author wasn't just writing a story.  She had some knowledge of the restaurant  business and the medical field.
My biggest surprise was that D.V Stone allowed her characters to share their faith and trust in God without making the topic offensive to anyone.
For me that made this book even better.
If you enjoy a good clean Romantic Suspense you need to put this one on your TBR pile (not list because you need to buy it.)

I received a complimentary copy.

All We Buried by Elena Taylor-Great Escapes Tour-Spotlight/Giveaway

About the book
For fans of Julia Keller and Sheena Kamal, All We Buried disturbs the long-sleeping secrets of a small Washington State mountain town.
Interim sheriff Elizabeth “Bet” Rivers has always had one repeat nightmare: a shadowy figure throwing a suspicious object into her hometown lake in Collier, Washington. For the longest time, she chalked it up to an overactive imagination as a kid. Then the report arrives. In the woods of the Cascade mountain range, right in her jurisdiction, a body floats to the surface of Lake Collier. When the body is extricated and revealed, no one can identify Jane Doe. But someone must know the woman, so why aren’t they coming forward?
Bet has been sitting as the interim sheriff of this tiny town in the ill-fitting shoes of her late father and predecessor. With the nightmare on her heels, Bet decided to build a life for herself in Los Angeles, but now it’s time to confront the tragic history of Collier. The more she learns, the more Bet realizes she doesn’t know the townspeople of Collier as well as she thought, and nothing can prepare her for what she is about to discover.

And others are saying

I absolutely loved All We Buried: A Sheriff Bet Rivers Mystery! If you love a good suspenseful mystery, you’ll love it too!
~CHRISTY’S COZY CORNERS
I haven’t read Elena Taylor before but after being thoroughly captivated by Bet Rivers, this is definitely not the last!
~TBR Book Blog
All We Buried by Elena Taylor was an exciting tale of mystery, crime, and carrying a family legacy.
~Baroness’ Book Trove
The story was well thought out, executed and gripping, I loved the small town setting and the characters and can’t wait to read from this series and author.
~eBook addicts
Taylor skillfully sets the pace to allow us to become acquainted with the town, the people, and the deep-rooted mysteries coming to the surface. A fabulous read from start to finish!

Selah's Stolen Dream by Susan Count-Great Escapes Tour-Review/Giveaway

About the book
One girl’s victory is another’s tragic defeat.
Thirteen-year-old Selah’s perfect life unravels when her beloved horse is stolen. Then ten-year-old Emma buys the dream of a lifetime at a horse auction. When she learns the horse was stolen, even removing her hearing aid won’t drown out the voice telling her to make it right.
But two girls can’t divide the horse they both adore. So will life surprise them with an answered prayer?

And I thought
I could not have been more charmed.  I felt like I was 12 again except when I was 12 I didn't have or know about books like this.

Selah's Stolen Dream is a Dream read for girls any age. Yes
it is written for Middle Grade but a more Mature/Grandmotherly type reader that lives and breaths horse will appreciate it just as much.

I have to say I was just as charmed by meeting the author on her site as reading the book.  Yes Susan Count knows what she writes about.  A horse owner can pick up on things that someone that
has only 'dreamed' might not pick up on.  Susan Count is the real deal.

I highly recommend Selah's Stolen Dream and the other books in this series.

I received a complimentary copy for the purpose of promoting the book through the Book Blast Tour at Lola's Blog Tour.

My review will be posted on Amazon, Good Reads and the book
will be promoted on my blogs and on social media.

Hot Pursuit by Lynn Raye Harris-Book Review

Hot Pursuit (A Hostile Operations Team Novel - Book 1) by [Harris, Lynn Raye]

About the book
He took her innocence. He broke her heart. He's the only one who can save her life...

Evie Baker hasn’t seen Matt Girard in ten years. Not since the night she gave him her virginity. Now the Black Ops soldier is back in town and looking to make things right. Too bad she doesn’t believe a word he says. But when her sister goes missing and Evie’s suddenly a suspect in a murder, Matt’s the only man she can trust to keep her safe.

Matt knew Evie wanted forever ten years ago, but all he wanted was escape. He’s older and wiser now, and he knows what matters. He’ll do whatever it takes—break any rules necessary—to protect Evie and find her sister.

And then he’ll do everything he can to win his best friend’s heart and prove he’s the man she needs him to be.

The Hostile Operations Team is a covert military Black Ops unit. Their motto is Where None Dare. H.O.T. operators come from all branches of the military. The only criteria for membership: they must be the best of the best!

**Start reading HOT today and enjoy an action-packed, seriously romantic and steamy-good-fun military romantic suspense. Each book can be read as a standalone (though you might enjoy them in order). No cliffhangers and a guaranteed happily-ever-after ending!

And I thought
I always enjoy being introduced to a new author and a new series.
Getting in a series at book 1 is always fun.

Lynn Raye Harris did not disappoint.  I really, really enjoyed her new book Hot Pursuit

I was actually looking for another book that I need for an upcoming tour.  I thought it was this one.  So it was a nice surprise to meet a new author to me.

I really did enjoyd this one.  MaMa might 'Blush' and frown abit but Jazzy GrandMa would be fanning herself and turning the pages.
I sure did
There were a few bedroom scenes and yes the door was open but they were tasteful.

I enjoyed the characters.  I enjoyed the plot.
There was a lot of drama going on in town besides the younger sister getting kidnapped and the ex causing all kinds of chaos for
Evie.

Evie was a great character handled all the drama, chaos and running for her life in stride.  But that was mainly because Matt was there to keep her safe and figure out who the bad guys are and what exactly they are after.

Hot Pursuit was a page turner.  The author gives you a fast paced suspenseful story.

Hot Pursuit is well written and I look forward to the next one in the series.

The only thing that I did not like about the book was the ending.
It's not really negative because the main characters appear to stay with us for the next book but they relocate.

I was disappointed because I really liked the setting the small town and all the characters.  I hope that we get to come back for more.

Hot Pursuit is available on Amazon Kindle free.

My review will appear on Amazon, Good Reads and promoted on Social Media.

1st Paragraph Friday feat Murder Makes Scents

I read a fun Cozy Mystery the other day.  Here's a bit about it.

The first lines . . .

I was in heaven.
I was in Paris.
I was at Cire 'Trudon, one of the cities finest candle stores.

And about page 56 . . .
I smiled at the image of him holding up four fingers and I sent a thumbs-up selfie back to him.
