And I thought

I couldn't put this one down.  I enjoyed Nora's Promise way more than I expected.  It did exceed my expectations. 

This was just a good love story.  I won't give anything away but it does end with a Happily Ever After.  And also with an excerpt for the next one in the series which is already on my TBR list.

All the characters are fun and charming.  I enjoyed them all.  

Nora's Promise isn't just about Nora and Davey's romance but his mom and his pseudo dad/friend business partner find their way back to each other after years of seperation.  It's another sweet romance all in one book. 

Sedona Hutton did an excellent job of giving this reader a story that I actually didn't want to end. But I was glad and enjoyed how it all came together and worked out in the end.  

Nora's Promise is one that you don't want to miss.  There are a few bedroom scenes and MaMa might blush abit but my Jazzy Grandma would be turning the pages!  I did.  

If you enjoy a good sweet romance with a smidgeon of sizzle check this one out.  And put the next one on you TBR pile.  I can't wait to read it!

Ava, on the other hand, is bold in appearance and personality and runs the front of the shop. When we find Leavensport’s beloved Ellie Siler, who is also my grandma’s best friend, dead in the alley in the back of our eatery we have no choice to be involved. Then, my grandma becomes a prime suspect as the police think she killed Ellie because our family’s secret recipes were never ours to begin with. My family, reputation, and business are all at stake. 

And I thought

 I loved the idea/concept of this book/series.  This the first in the series and  sets the stage for some fun reading and a bit of mystery. 

When it comes out that the owner(s) of the famous recipes are bogus it's a let down for everyone. 

It's a bit of a 'let down' also for Jolie when her best friend Ava  and co-owner announces she just might be moving away from town. 

Ava has a few other secrets she's never shared with Jolie that kind of made me a little less than enthralled with the whole idea. 

But, as I turned the pages I became taken in with this fun and cozy mystery.  

I would like to have found a few more recipes but with all the drama over them maybe we'll get a few more in book 2. 

I really liked the cover on this one and I enjoyed the fun and Cozy read and look forward to book 2.

One Taste Too Many by Debra H. Goldstein-Great Escapes Tour Spotlight

And I thought
It's always fun to get into book 1 of a new series.  
One Taste Too Many left me waiting for the next one.  
I enjoyed the 'twins' characters and at first had a hard time keeping them straight.  Which actually I think was good because isn't that the way it really is with twins.  
The covering for each other or the pretending to be each other. 
So I'll late it for you

Sarah is the one that works for a lawyer and is getting over a divorce and has a cat given to her by his ex when his mom died. 
And btw Sarah can't cook. 

Emily is the sis that is making her way in the culinary world. 
And kind of ends up stumbling over dead bodies.  

Got it straight?

Yes there are a few bodies in the mix and with each the sista's become the suspects.   

Adding to the mix a cop that is well.  I won't give anymore away but he just seems more interested in the sisters (as suspects or something else?) instead of discovering the real killer. 

This one was a fun ride.  A few twists that will keep you turning the pages maybe a little slower to keep up.  

I loved the end.  

I did wish to have found a few more recipes.  Maybe next time?

And I thought

I was pleasantly surprised.  I enjoyed Attorney at Paw  more than I expected I would.  

Based on the cover I thought I would be reading a cute little story with a little mystery thrown in. 

I got way more.  Attorney at Paw was very well written.  A great story/plot.  And some great characters.  And with all that there is a touch on PTSD and on animal rescue and how therapy dogs can be used.   And there is a bit of romance too. 

We get a mystery in who did in Chrissy's (the dog) original owner. 

Was it his sister who sent Chrissy to a shelter?  And received the inheritance?   Or was it his business partner?  Then again it could have been the chick that had the hots for him.  Or maybe even his girlfriend.  There are no shortage of suspects. 

There are no shortage of suspects and no shortage of  likeable characters making this one a great read and start to a great new series.  

I give Chrissy 5 paws.  I can't wait to read more.

Daphne Templeton’s Holiday Letter

Daphne Templeton is a peacenik who doesn’t want to keep getting mixed up in murders. But somehow, she seems to stumble across bodies on a regular basis. And, as she points out in her first-ever holiday letter, her year has been eventful in other ways, too!

Merry Christmas!

This is actually the first time I’ve been organized enough to send a holiday letter, which still doesn’t seem like a good idea, as I’m writing it. However, my mother insists that this note is “an important tool for communicating with various constituencies,” which I believe means it’s meant more for clients than friends.

To be honest, I’ll probably rip this up, or lose it on the floor of my van before I can mail it, but for now, here are a few highlights from the past year:

• Socrates saved me from a walk-in freezer with a faulty lock. I always knew he was a hero, just waiting for his moment!
• It’s been weeks since Tinkleston has launched himself at anyone, including Mom, from the top of my ice box. Another small victory!
• Plum Cottage is snug as ever, the old Lucky Paws VW still runs most of the time, and my new bakery for pets, Flour Power, is doing great.
• Piper is practically giddy with love, which is almost unnerving.
• Oh, and I found another body under the Sylvan Creek Christmas tree, right before Jonathan Black asked me a question that I nearly forgot about, in all the excitement.

So, that’s the year-end wrap up. I’m wishing, as always, for peace on Earth — and that my best friend, Moxie, will beat a murder rap. The same things I wish for every year, right?

And I thought 

The Lucky Paws Pet Sitting Mystery Series has quickly become one of my favorite series.  

I was delighted to get the opportunity to read book 4.  I have enjoyed each of the previous 3.  Each book is written as a stand alone and this series is easy to get into. 

Many of  the old characters human and K-9 are back and a few more are added in this installment.    

The K-9 characters kind of make this series.  First there is 

Daphne's dog Socrates.  He is pictured on the covers with a new friend in each installment.  

This one introduced a new dog named Tiny Tim that was a bit of a mystery at first much to Daphne's chagrin she seemed the only one that could see him.  He was fast on his feet and disappeared before anyone else caught sight of him.  He becomes a big help to Daphne as she investigates  not only one but 2 murders and they are both Daphne's high school class mates.     

And then a new character that promises to be a huge part is the prissy poodle Snowdrop who is just too prissy and sometimes mean to like.  But you have to give her some patience because it is her mistress that gets the axe.  Well it's acutally not an axe but a pair of scissors and it's discovered that they belong to none other than 

Moxie.  Yes Daphne's bestie is a prime suspect.  

As usual in this series Daphne is cautioned about investigating not only by her mother that is appalled that her daughter seems to always be finding dead bodies which almost makes her a disgrace. 

The handsome and elusive Detective Black is none to happy about the sleuthing but he seems in this installment to be a bit more accepting of Daphne's penchant for investigating. 

Now if we could get the two on a 'real date' and maybe standing under the mistletoe then everything would just be all tidy!

This is a good cozy mystery.  No foul language.  No bedroom scenes not even a kiss (maybe next tine)and the crime although the main part of the plot is down key and not graphic.  

If you enjoy a good fun Cozy mystery you'll enjoy Bethany Blakes 

series.

With the help of Fiona, Evie’s BFF and local newspaper editor, Evie is determined to prove Nate innocent, figure out how champagne smuggling, bodies on the dock and a bad wedding planner are tied together and not wind up taking a long walk off a short pier herself.

And I thought 
Well I loved it.  I have no idea where I've been off on the wrong path I suspect but I've missed the previous ones in this great series.

And now why I loved it . . . 
From page one Evie and Fiona had me cracking up.  Their antics provided this reader with many laughs and giggles.  From the beginning when they stumble onto a body and then they can't call the police because there is random cell service on their lovely little island.  They actually break into a building by breaking a window to set off the alarm so the police will come. 
The police that comes is none other than the local Chief who is smitten with Evie but keeping that to himself.  (you know this I am sure if you've read the previous books...I only suspected.)  The two 
have a kind of friendship but when Evie goes into sleuth mode she
tends to cross the line. 
Even if Evie can't ride a bicycle for squat she has other talents like breaking and entering.  And does so efficient because she has her own set of lock picks.  Purple paper clips.  When these don't work though she has a back up by calling on her mothers suitor an ex
mobster who knows the ropes. 
The series is filled with colorful characters that make a fun read even if it is a murder mystery. 
In Tandem Demise Evie is determined to find the truth when Nate the Police Chief and hunk that makes Evie swoon (if she thinks about it).  Everyone in town knows there some kind of sizzle but 
Nate and Evie are running from love or at least in hiding.  

I really enjoyed my chance to get into this series and I'll be buying the previous books.
