Meeting Up with the Consultant by Sara Blackard My Review

About the book

After he sees her at her worst, can he show her that the best is yet to come?

Kensie only wants to get home to Alaska where her lazy cat and career await. Visiting her sister and her family has been nice, but she has other responsibilities. When Kensie has to attend a meeting in the middle of her sister’s mayhem, there’s only one option–replace her video feed with a loop of a calmer version of herself.

When Harding logs into the online conference, the last thing he expects is to witness an attendee’s MeetSpace mishap with their video feed. He’s only supposed to suggest changes for their company’s new product line, but he soon finds himself distracted by the pretty lady in the storm of chaos.

Can Kensie look beyond her colossal mishap and work alongside Harding, the consultant whose intelligence rivals his good looks? Or will she turn tail and flee into the nearest glacial crevasse to hide from a potential happily ever after?

The MeetSpace Meet Cute series are laugh-out-loud romantic comedies that are sure to give you warm fuzzies. Each book stands alone so you can jump anywhere into the series and read them in any order you like!

And I thought

This is the first time I have read one of Sara Blackard's Contemporary Romances.

I became a fan of Sara's when I got a chance to read Falling For Zeke the first book in the Stryker Force series.

I fell in love with that series. So I knew I would not be disappointed reading Meeting Up With The Consultant seemed like a short read.

The characters were fun and charming. Harding and Kensie are both fun and likeable.

Harding is a bit brooding because he is at a crossroads in his life. His career is stable but somethings missing.

At least until Kensie enters his life. All the confusion about his future suddenly isn't a problem anymore.  Harding falls hard!

Kensie volleyballs her way through the book trying not to like Harding.  Then trying not fall for him.

But it is inevitable because this a romance.  And a Romance needs to end with a Happily Ever After.

And there are a lot of laughs along the was.

I enjoyed my introduction to Sara Blackard's world of Romance and look forward to reading more.

I received a Complimentary copy.

On Skein Of Death by Allie Pleiter Great Escapes Tour Review

August 6 – My Reading Journeys – REVIEW

About the book

For Libby Beckett, opening her charming yarn shop, and introducing customers to the joys of knitting and crochet, is the work she was meant to do. Until the yarn she loves is used for murder….

Libby has come home to Collinstown, Maryland to live her dream and open her own yarn shop, aptly named Y.A.R.N., along the Chester River. To Libby, Y.A.R.N. stands for “You’re Absolutely Ready Now.” But the acronym changes whenever inspiration strikes, and customers add to the list of suggestions that fill the blackboard wall in a shop stuffed with color, fiber, and comfort.

Libby is thrilled when she lands famous Norwegian knitting celebrity Perle Langager for a series of events at Y.A.R.N. Libby’s English bulldog, Hank, has been modeling one of Perle’s doggie sweaters, and customers just can’t wait to see Perle in action. The mayor of Collinstown even decrees a Collinstown Yarn Day to celebrate. But once Perle arrives in town, she seems distracted and on edge. And when she’s found strangled with a skein of red yarn, Libby knows she has to solve a knotty mystery before her new life unravels.

And I thought

Sometimes covers just get me.  And this one does!

Doesnt  Hank (the dog on the cover) just beckon you to turn the pages.  Especially after reading the description.

That red yarn laying by Hank made me wonder was poor Hank an eye witness to the crime?

On Skein Of Death was/is a fun read.  Just your fun cozy.  Set in a small town.  I love the Y.A.R.N. shop setting.  I am not a knitter so that part of the story didn't intrigue but that is o.k.

But I do crochet and wish there was a 'real' shop like Y.A.R.N. filled with fun characters.

Lilly is charming and delightful.

And the mayor kind of thinks so too.  But they have a history.  Maybe there will be some rekindling.

Especially if people keep meeting thier demise.  Because Lilly will have to find the answers.

I was quickly turning the pages anyway in this first book in the series and I am anxiously waiting for more.

I received a Complimentary copy.

My review will appear on Good Reads and Retail sites.

Thank you Allie Pleiter for touring with Great Escapes and giving me a chance to meet by you and your new Cozy Mystery.

Oh Olivia by Patricia Fry Great Escapes Book Tour Review/Giveaway

About the book

Olivia proves she’s not just a pretty face.

Parker Campbell, an investigative reporter, and her calico cat, Olivia, have been summoned to help save a long-standing cat colony site from the grips of eager developers. They arrive on scene to discover that the property has become enshrouded in a most unsettling mystery. The feral cats are digging up personal items belonging to missing persons who vanished years earlier. Was this the site of a mass murder, a cult ritual gone wrong, or an unexplained phenomenon? Parker teams up with Detective Judson Caldwell, who has taken a personal leave to secretly investigate the mystery, and soon learns what drives his obsession with this case.

Olivia, the sweet and sassy calico, struts her stuff in this story. She locates a lost toddler and ends up getting herself arrested. She isn’t about to take this insult lying down, however. She escapes from custody and trashes the police station. Olivia alerts Parker to trouble when they visit her aunt’s home and find that the woman has detained a burglar in a most unusual way. Olivia also finds major clues in the convoluted cat colony mystery, one that promises a glimmer of hope for a long-grieving parent.

And I thought

Oh Olivia after reading a few pages I get the title Oh Olivia.   I have a dog and I/we are always saying Oh Lola.

Olivia is quite the cat. A bit quirky for a Cat.  But her wit and charm shines.   Olivia deserves to be the feline lead.

I really liked the plot.  The bodies being found by feral cats was indeed a great touch.

Sometimes reading a Cozy is good but alot of the plots have just been done over and over with minor twists to make it new.

Not with author Patricia Fry.

Oh Olivia was a page turner.

The characters are easy to like and the plot moves along at a quick pace.

And then getting to the cliff hanger at the end had me surprised!

And that is the sign of a well written book when the reader can't wait for the next one.

I received a Complimentary copy.
