April 21 – My Reading Journeys – book review of A WEDDING AND A KILLING / giveaway
Not wanting to wait until their big day to start their life of wedded bliss, Mac Faraday and his lady love, Archie Monday, decide to elope to the little church where his ancestors had all married—along the tranquil shore of Deep Creek Lake. However, before they can say, “I do,” the sanctuary erupts into chaos when Gnarly finds a body in the church office.
In A Wedding and a Killing, Mac and his team discover more questions than answers. What kind of person walks into a church and shoots a man for no apparent reason? How do you solve the murder of a man who has no enemies in the world? Which of the seemingly kind-hearted church members is really a cold-blooded killer?
Then, there is the all-important question, how long do Mac Faraday and his lady love have to wait to get married?
And I thought
Author Lauren Carr never fails to pen a tale that will keep you turning the pages and scratching your head trying to figure it out.
As always there is more than one crime to solve. And usually a cold case or older crime that may or may not have anything to do with the current crime. Which usually is murder.
And as usual if the main character would just listen to his dog Gnarly maybe just maybe they could stop a crime while it's happening.
But then there wouldn't be a crime to investigate at all!
There are many times when Gnarly steals the show which causes a few giggles. And he is great at helping solve the crimes, defending his pack and lending a paw to folks in need or having a bad day.
At the end of the book after the epilog is a Special Bonus Feature. A Gnarly Mystery short story called The Gnarly Rehabilitation Program.
Within the storyline and crimes the reader meets several characters. The characters are well developed.
I enjoyed reading A Wedding and a Killing.
